Hey folks!

Was wondering if I could have some help figuring out a situation I am in.
I have the opportunity to quote on USA-USA freight lanes for an American Company.....

Being a Canadian Carrier is this allowed? And also what should I know before entering into such an agreement?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

It will be a little complicated.

Among other things, you will have to post a bond for US internal freight.
You will also have to get a US FEIN ( Employer number ) and pay US income taxes on the revenue made.

You shouldn't experience any difficulty getting US carriers to work for you, provided you have a US Brokers License and a good credit rating. Posting a bond is a requirement of obtaining the Brokers License. Check with either an experienced US tax accountant or lawyer regarding your obligations to Internal Revenue.

I think you'll always find carriers who won't do business with you no matter what ... unless you're one of the big ones.

How complicated stuff is can depend on the state you are doing business in ... New York is actually pretty complicated.

But with the electronic age, anyone can be pretty much anywhere and do the job ... though you'll still find you're far more effective when you specialize in a market ... we don't do that great on US domestic stuff in general.
