Beware of this new "Business Strategy". It seems if you don't specifically make them write Canadian funds on their confirmation - some agents (Lorne) will pay you in the weaker currency. My load booked through the PQ office on a load picking up in Ontario and delivering in Alberta has been paid to me in U.S. funds and it's my fault for assuming it was Canadian funds LOL.

I guess I should be happy that since there's no indication as to currency on the confirmation - they didn't pick pesos.

currency

Not quite sure of the legality of that.

Domestic move, issuer of contract between you is from Toronto, ON.

I cannot see how they can use another country's currency, even if their client is paying them that way.

You are not dealing directly with his client.

MarkD,

We also were paid by C.H. in US funds for a few CDN moves....

I put a STOP to this right away by doing the following:

Any invoices we have for C.H. Robinson are not mailed out. I now upload all invoices/POD's to their website C.H. Robinson

If you are not setup - GET SETUP with a login. This is so much easier and we are now paid for loads within 15 days. The account has improved immensely since we implemented this new invoice upload system - and it is so easy to do. When you start to enter your invoice details (invoice# and dollar amount) - there is a tab for currency - simply change it from the US default to CDN. Save yourself the mailing cost also!

Problem solved....

We are also set up with them that way. Although we opt for the quick pay option , where they let you cut your own T check (they mail a bunch to you) within 48 hrs. All for an astronomical 1.5% discount.

All CH Robinson load sheets are in US$ unless denoted on their load sheet as C$9999.99. The C before the dollar sign denotes CDN$. When you receive the load sheet, ensure it is there or call the office that you booked it with to change it. I find that most agents/offices work well with getting this clarified.

I have tried to change the currency before as shown above but it doesn't always work. The agent/office usually has to approve the change if there is anything different before it is paid out and that may delay payment.

I find all of the short pay, denied accessorials, and currency games have vanished since we simply mandated the policy of no CH Robinson freight on our trucks. I must say, its worked well, we definitely haven't suffered from either a rate or a equipment utilization perspective.
