Just received the following info:-

Fraud Update in trucking industry - double brokering nonpayment as well as Insurance fraud

I spoke with a small Broker this morning and he advised the following: company out of York Region pulling the double brokering scam. Attracts the brokers with an ad in the paper offering $1.80 per mile. Not only does he not pay the brokers but he also collects money for insurance and provides the operating authority and Insurance pinks slips. This paper work is completely false and the bad guy pockets the money for the insurance and the brokers are operating without insurance. This could prove catastrophic if the broker is involved in an accident or is a victim of theft. This fraud is aimed at the smaller mom and pop business. Please fan out.

I have also advised this victim to report this on cargowatch@gmail.com as well

This fraud has been reported to York Regional Police

This doesn't really help if your not going to mention any individual or company names, thanks though. The cops probably put it on the back burner right away. Surprised they didn't say their favourite line to you "Take it up in civil court"

Unfortunately I wasn't given any names :( I'm still trying to find out, but thought I should mention it, just in case!
 
The volume is fraud out there is getting worse and it is more serious then ever before. Something has to be done ASAP!

I know :( it's getting so that it's hard to trust anyone ... even if we have done business before, if it's been awhile.... you start to wonder
 
Broker scam

We are dealing with this character right now.his add is in the newspaper right now.he owes us 6000.00 and has no intentions of paying.when you call he just hangs up on you.
