Border Crossing

Hello All
Anyone else having there drivers asked questions at the border that if they had moved third trailer. I have been told by drivers that US is enforcing cabotage rule and even revoking US VISA for drivers. In some cases on near duty free at Windsor customs/DOT is checking driver logs to verify this info.

We have not heard this from our drivers but it would not be happening on the Canadian side as it is Canada and US DOT cannot operate in Canada.

First I've heard of that. Most of the time they don't ask anything anymore when I cross.

It's only at Windsor/Detroit crossing and it is happening. They are asking drivers if they are hooking third trailer and in some cases calling dispatch to confirm. Another words US is really implementing Cabotage Rule now which still is grey area in some scenarios. I'm aware of this and know some big companies who have given notice to shippers in Canada that they won't move empties in US. Inbox me if you require more info.
