a very polite lady just called me asking what ever happened with this Bentley Freight account. I forgot to get your number and company name, we'd like to keep in touch if possible regarding this?

You will get burned. You do load, he sends check just over 30 days. you think what a great guy then bank sends cheque back to you as he put a stop payment on it.
Doesn't answer calls or emails for days, we send a rep to his place of business (his house) he gives song and dance, sends an email saying he's sorry and has been out of town, then doesn't return calls again.
Also, we were used as a credit reference many times before cheque was even received. We called him on it, Steve told us "The cheque is in the mail, just tell them you received it already."

Bad news
A very similar thing happened to us. This guy is trying to make a living by ripping people off.
He originally contacted us for software and was interested in leasing. When he learned that the software needed date codes every few months to unlock, he immediately requested purchase pricing. He said it looked good and we sent over a purchase agreement for the system.
He couriered a cheque, next day service, and we thought the same thing as blackice, 'wow what a great guy'. The cheque appeared to clear in the bank, and a week later he was literally hounding me for the full unlock code. Eventually when all appeared well in the bank after a lengthy period of time, we provided the unlock.
21 full days after we had received the cheque originally, the bank returned it citing a stop payment. We attempted to reach Steve many times, and when he got sick of us calling he sent an email threatening to charge us for harassment.
We attempted to bring the police into the matter, which unfortunately did not go very far, and we ended up sending his account to collections, ensuring it would be a black mark on his credit report. Still have none of our money. This all happened back in March.

it keeps getting worse
well, since the last post I've received two additional phone calls, both by company representatives asking if we knew how to get a hold of Bentley Freight Services as they were several months past-due in payments.
This issue is not specific to dispatch software. He is ripping off other software companies, trucking companies, and as mentioned below, trying to obtain false credit references before burning his bridges.
