More specifically Vido "the owner" of this "operation".... just left a bad taste in my mouth...Here is the story: Pick up a load in MTL this morning and told by customer to call ahead to set up delivery appt at their whse, this company called Barone Tspt and whse... no problem... call the number provided try and set up delivery for Tuesday, or at least leave a voicemail for them to call us back tomorrow... so this guy, Vido has his phone forwarded directly to his cell phone which I am not aware of, and starts losing his mind on me saying its a stat holiday and we should not be bugging him today and then hanges up the phone..., I told him I appologised for bugging him, did not know the phone was directed to his cell phone and that being a primarily Canada/U.S carrier we were open today. He then calls me back 5 minutes later when he notices i am calling from a 905 # on his cell phone and starts losing his mind again saying that we should know its a holiday and should not be calling his company... says when we do get an appt at his place he will unload 1 skid an hour and no more and that we will be there all day to unload. Unfortunatly being a federally regulated company and trucks that run into the U.S. which is not shut down today we are in the office!!! So now because Vido cannot have a voicemail system that can be directed to his cell phone for emergencies only my truck will now pay the price for "disturbing" him on the stat holiday. Sounds like a hell of a whse company to me, ... I realise most places are closed today, but really no excuse to handle this situation like that... cant wait to see how this one turns out tomorrow....
Nice... sounds like a helluva a guy to work for. Why even bother to answer the phone if he's gunna get that wound up... Sheesh shoot the messenger why don't you.
There is no such thing as stat holiday anymore, at least not in this business.
If he does follow through with his threat of 1 skid per hour, I would pack up and leave, come back only when Vido understands business runs 24/7. It's not like you didn't apologize to him for "disturbing" him on Family Day.
why should you have to apologize for calling his business? if he forwards his business line to his cell phone that is his decision. he could easily have left it to voicemail or ring dead. and i aggree with MyTruckMyrates....transportation has always been 24/7...nothing new there. good luck.
I would tell your customer what happened and remind them that you charge after 2 hours free and not even attempt delivery till you have a commitment of payment. Also dont forget trailer detention.
As long as the "Vedo's" of the world are allowed to act like complete morons this will continue to be a problem.
Sounds like Vedo has seen 1 too many Soprano's episodes.
These posts regarding Vito don't surprise me. I knew he didn't pay well - obviously doesn't run his business properly either.
From a payment perspective - STAY AWAY from this place. I had to call the references on his credit app and luckily I found one that owed him quite a bit of money. Guess they were doing work for each other - both sides of the coin here. They got involved and made a phone call to Vito to pay us or there would be "issues". I chased and chased him for 2 invoices which were substantial amounts. I found out later on the company that assisted me cut him off - too many problems with him.
We got an appt for Wednesday morning after Vido called Tuesday when we all got back to work after the big holiday (Which I forgot to mention earlier, when he thought I was an American calling him on the Monday for an appt, referred to the Familiy day as similar to the 4th of July Holiday... yeah... kinda... Not!?!?!) and Vido called us back to give us a delivery appt for 11:15am Wednesday and threw in that "we better not be late" (Understandable really for an appt but just coming from him was a piss off), sent in a broker that works for us in the city with a plain white rental trailer, thinking that if F1 is not all over the truck and trailer it would help our chances to avoid problems (Out of site, out of mind theory) and we were unloaded in just over 2 hours. So no major issues but safe to say we will avoid this place whenever possible in the future!
