Any news on hurricane relief loads ?

There will be thousands upon thousands of loads into Florida, Tenn, Georgia, and the Carolinas. Its going to be way more than just relief supplies, there are whole towns / citys that need rebuilding. Asherville alone would be a few thousand trailer loads to rebuild the main part of the town.
Building Materials, interior commercial furnishings, appliances, inventory etc.

Don't forget about infrastructure projects... new cell towers, cable boxes on the street, hydro transformers on the street.. none of these items do well when submerged in water.

Its the hurry up and wait game.... and that includes payments if billing FEMA or any other government / aid agency.

Relief loads are truly a special type of logistics.

Did Fema loads for Katrina. You folks can have all mine.. I think the boys where 3 or 4 days in Jackson MS and ended up taking the loads of water to a warehouse in Joplin MO. Paid well but in the long run ended up as just an okay rate when time was all taken into it. Waiting time while great does not pay the bills the wheels rolling does. The water we dropped is probably still sitting in Joplin.

Quoted on a load going to FL yesterday. Now understand that there is nothing coming out of that area for the near future so we calculated a rate to get us north where there might be a load, albeit still a horrible rate and likely to drop because of additional trucks will be in the same situation I am, and we were accused of price gouging, taking advantage of the poor people in despair, and will be reported (to whom I don't know).
They can have their relief loads. Northbound loads from the southeast US have had horrible rates for the past year.

This is definitely not going to work out well for them. And any haulers that do offer a ridiculously low rate will just end up going broke that much faster, which, while unfortunate, is fine with me.

Probably report you to FG because he was butt hurt a carrier knows his poop and priced accordingly. Bet his rate offered was really a good one for him and his brokerage.
