WINDSOR, ON— The four-lane Ambassador Bridge that connects Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan, announced it will adjust its tolls for commercial vehicles to between $4.50 CND and $6.75 CND per axle, effective May 1.
Canadian trucks will pay:
• Class A (0 to 36,000 lbs): $4.50 per axle;
• Class B (36,001 to 54,000 lbs): $5.00 per axle;
• Class C (54,001 to 145,000 lbs): $6.75 per axle;
• Wide loads: axle charge of $75.00 or more.
Also, effective June 1, a $6.75-fee plus applicable tolls per trip will be charged for all non-active Detroit International Bridge Company or Canadian Transit Company account holders. To avoid this fee, you can go to www.ambassadorbridge.com/apass to become an account holder for any of the bridge's accounts.

It figures greedy Matty Marhoun taking full advantage of the Bluewater Bridge being under construction. Another increase in cost so another drop in rates.

"a $6.75-fee plus applicable tolls for a non-active account"?? If it is non active, how do you charge the toll? Wouldn't that make it active?

I cannot understand this bridge. Every month, since they went to the transponders, have been more and more work to process? Each month I have someone else's tolls. They recommend that I pay them and wait for them to take them off the account and credit it.....ya right!

Jim L,
we had a credit coming and the person taking care of it asked me which UNPAID invoice I wanted to have the credit applied to. I told her that we are 'pre-payed'. She tells me that she can only credit UNPAID invoices... I told her that that would be mission impossible. This went back and forth for several weeks. I finally went over her head and got the credit. this is the person who authorised the credits that we have gotten so far. Nicole Losiowski [nlosiowski@ambassadorbridge.com].
also what they mean by a non active account is you didn't sign up for the credit card part ;)

That would make the Ambassador Bridge the most expensive bridge to cross in Southern Ontario, a five axle vehicle would be 33.75. Peace Bridge is 33.00. Sarnia is quite a bit cheaper, I think I know what bridge I want to cross at.
