Does anyone have any service history with this firm? They are under 2 of our loads and there seems to be some difficulties arising. Any and all information is much appreciated. Thanks.

Actually, there is another carrier involved on one of these 2 loads.. Super J out of Burnaby BC. Can anyone share their experienced with this outfit as well? Thanks

Well, finally one of the 2 loads has delivered. As is usually the case with late deliveries, the shipment was extremely hot and we now have a real upset customer. We negotiated a rate for team service from BC to Toronto with Super J for delivery Thursday up till midnight, or even first thing this AM if necessary. They didn't/wouldn't answer their phones once we started calling and e-mailing this morning, and to top it all off........quess what........only 1 driver! I would be interested in hearing from the learned members of this site as to what a reasonable deduction from the agreed rate should be. Right now, in the heat of the moment, I'm inclined to pay them nothing, but I know by next week and copious amounts of alcohol over the weekend, I might be a little more understanding. Only on the Friday of a long weekend do these headaches occur!

Team service surcharges on full loads are usually either 10% of the base linehaul or $0.15 per mile. It's an industry standard when you're dealing with contract freight, anyway. I think you should make the deduction.

Hate when that happens!

Booking and negotiating a team and receiving single driver service means that the supplier that you are working with cares nothing about you, your customer or future business together. They are transactional and while I dislike jumping to deductions your remuneration to them needs to be less than the single driver rate. some of the discount for your client, and some for you. Speaking to them about what is fair would be ideal but remembering that they don't really care about you means they will not agree to help you now.

Keep well,
Mike

While I agree that they should be deducted, just wondering how you come up with the "some for your client and some for you". Shouldn't the reduced rate be passed on to the customer 100%? That would be like a carrier getting waiting time for a load and not passing it on to the owner operator... Just sayin'

We disagree on this one. That's ok though.

When I pay a carrier waiting time, do I really expect that 'all' of what I offer the carrier is going to the driver??? Absolutely not! A portion is kept by the carrier for administrative costs. I've met with enough carrier owners to know drivers don't get paid that kind of money that appears on our dispatch for waiting time.

The situation below is much different than paying a carrier for obvious and agreed waiting time. In the case below, the carrier has misrepresented the service they were going to offer. Misrepresentation is very different than a standard accessorial charge. Loaders should recoup any additional costs for things like phone calls, emails, time, electricity, etc... For someone that lies to get an order and then delivers when they feel like it - I'd say the carrier should be paying for loaders 'stress reducing LCBO invoice'.

My 2 cents, sometimes worth 3.
Mike

That could turn out to be more than a standard deduction!!!! On a serious note, I will keep the members informed of how this turns out in the end and how the negotiations progress next week. The main thing is, the customer has received his goods, late, but now on the ground. His stress level will also hopefully subside over the weekend and he will be more willing to understand that transportation is unfortunately not a Swiss watch. As one of our larger accounts, I'm sure that in the end, there won't be any of that famous "cream off the top" left that people associate with brokers. Just to rub salt in this thing, today was my damn birthday as well! Happy bloody B'Day!!!! Wait....what's that? A Bloody Cesar you say? Make it a jumbo!

Hello,

Be aware this firm (Amanat Transport) does what they want when they want. This firm held one of my loads and would not release it. Amandeep told me to go and collect money from a different entity for him. Upon completion, he will release and deliver the load. RCMP was involved and load was delivered 2 days later which resulted in losing the client. It was the first time doing business with this firm and the last. DNU!!!
