Does anyone have any payment experience with:
Able Trucking
P.O. Box 766
Brampton, ON L6W4S4
905-838-4346
USDOT 6936232

We have an outstanding invoice from this outfit. They are cagey with all our calls and each time they need the invoice sent to them again. If you brokered them to move some loose pieces of freight at the end of September from to Austin, TX, I would like to know if it was double brokered.

Beware - their carrier insurance has been marked as pending cancellation - looks like they will have no insurance as of Jan 22,2020 unless a new insurance company posts an active policy.

I have worked with them and they pay slow around 60 days average and they don't work with factoring companies.

Jim, just out of curiosity, where are you getting this information from? Seems like this may be the trend this year.

Nawk answered it for me in the post above. Look at FMCSA Licensing and Insurance page. This should be your number one go-to when researching a carrier.

I would say it would be wise to not deal with people you DON'T know if their insurance is close to cancellation. I truly believe there will be a lot of companies go down because of insurance in the next 6 months.

I couldn't agree more Bill.
I've heard of some smaller carriers with less than outstanding records seeing 100% increase in premiums on renewal. It will be very interesting to see what goes on in the first half of 2020.

I was reading a article yesterday and 24,000 trucks left the market last year in the US and they expect a lot more to exit.

The dreaded PO box address syndrome.........If i had a nickle for every PO box I went to hoping to pick up a check.....I'd have a dollar by now.

People use PO boxes for many different reasons.

Able might be many things but Sam is not hiding his whereabouts behind a PO box. Able's physical address is well known and easy to find.

I used to work at a company that used a PO Box. The reason for the PO Box... the company had planned growth. Rather than have an address change every two years... chase payments that had been mailed to old addresses and such. They chose to stabilize the mailing address and not have to reprint stationary, business cards etc. etc.

I did a load for them Nov 25th. Their address was on the confirmation 21 wiggins rd Caledon. They paid that invoice Dec 30th $1300 (40 days).

Thanks for the update Mark. 103 days and counting - still waiting on payment that is supposed to be in the mail.

Did this get resolved? I've known Sam for many years, (over 35) and this is unusual for them. We've traded Freight many times and no issues with payment or service.

No, I had to call the shipper/receiver who called the company that they gave it to and found out it was double brokered. The original broker paid me direct and will work out their payment issues with Able moving forward. They are now DNU.
