And yet they want to regulate the **** out of the industry and tell drivers when they can drive, sleep, eat and poop. Maybe they should give truckers free reign and make car drivers account for their every minute.
My biggest beef are the misleading headlines. I remember seeing a headline that read "Truck and car collide killing both drivers. The picture of the truck they were referring to was a F-150 pickup.
The worst was years ago, some poor sap jumped off an overpass on the 401. He went through the windshield of a rig travelling 100 kms and hour and died in the drivers lap. (that will get your attention real quick if you are the driver of the rig). Headline in Kitchener paper was " Traffic chaos after truck kills man on 401.
The driver of the rig is probably still having nightmares.
Gotta love the math though...81% of the time cars are at fault, while 27% trucks are at fault...lol
Unless they mean in some instances both are at fault?
I had a shipment 4 years ago that 2 people died in. Accident was on the 401.
Shipment picked up from TX and was delivering to Mississauga.
Driver in SUV comes into the 401 and cuts through three lanes. The truck driver can't do anything.
Two people passed away that day.
I brokered the shipment to that carrier. One of the craziest days I've had in my 8 years in transportation.
Whatever that can be done to make the roads safer do it.
