We’ve recently had a very similar experience with this company. They completed two loads for us, and while our accounting team was vetting the phone number, they came across this thread.
Unfortunately, a few mistakes on our end made things worse:
- Mistake #1: We told them that we found this forum thread.
- Mistake #2: While scrambling for capacity our team might have cut corners in the vetting process.
- Mistake #3: We books them without obtaining proper driver information or photos of the trucks loading at the shipper.
We are now requesting the original PODs (it mighthave info of the actual trucking company), which I suspect they do not actually have. Instead of cooperating, they have become extremely aggressive. they started reaching out directly to our customers and receivers.
Yes, we’re asking for the PODs after the 30‑day payment terms, but it’s necessary due to what we’ve uncovered. Unfortunately, we found this thread too late.
They have even sent our customers so‑called “court documents” that aren’t stamped or filed, while making false accusations about our company. Even if a customer pays them, it won’t solve the problem. It's very likely that Starlight will not pay the carriers they double‑brokered the load to, which means those carriers will eventually come after our customers or the associated shippers again. The cycle just repeats with another unsuspecting trucking company.
These people are relentless and can absolutely damage your relationship with your customers if your foundation with them isn’t solid.
Please do not do business with this company. Protect yourself and your customers.
Any insights are appreciated!
Thanks, Dom
