Morning all,

Looking for some input into situation this morning. Booked an order for 16skids. driver arrived with room for 14skids. shipper asked customer if they can "short ship" to 14 skids and the customer advised they could break down the last 2 skids so the complete order gets shipped. so....do you pay the truck for 16skids as booked or 14 skids since that's what they showed up with space for? sure this will be an interesting one!

14, took your clients supplier time to rework load to fit carrier, they should get discount for that from you as well you from carrier.

14 skids loaded......14 skids should be billed.

I would bill 14 skids to the client and in turn, pay the carrier for 14 skids.

Yep,

If the shipper was only offered 14 skid spots to load, they should only pay for the space offered. I would normally argue that if the load was 'heavy' there could be an argument for greater than 14 spots, but it doesn't sound like it's the case here.

Wow...5 for 5 for 14! LOL...I thought for sure there would be a carrier's perspective of they paid for their freight to get moved and it got moved thanks all. Appreciate it! For those taking Monday off...be safe...have fun!

They are all brokers or where is some cases. Anything over 12 should be TL but alas it is not.

As a carrier: should be happy to get loaded when they arrived with 14 spots for a 16-spot load; I as a carrier would expect to get turned away without a TONU because the truck arrived unprepared to take the freight. Extremely lucky that the shipper was kind enough to consolidate the freight.

In this specific scenario did the weight change? (Yes for the gross weight of the actual pallets)
Maybe make a rate reduction for the weight? (fuel wise, stop wise, mile wise, time wise all the same, it's not like it's 14/16 of the work you know.) There are a lot of ways to skin a cat, but you wouldn't be a cool cat for doing so.

14 for sure. When booked they knew the space and didn't show up with enough. Shipper reworked to assist getting the load on the truck at all. IT could have went the other way and turned the truck back for not having the space and then well, they could have had nothing.

For a particular well-known brokerage that I work with ... 8 skids and up goes as a truckload. They adjusted that number down from 10 skids.
