Vaccine Mandate & Supply Chain Carnage

The numbers here look like its correct. Once again, the government is reacting to the Doctors who are running the country now with no regard for the ramification of the economy or the supply chain. Doctors say more paid sick days would help - done. Doctors say make vaccinations mandatory - everyone's life is upside down until they get both shots. Doctors say that boosters are necessary - soon the QR reading machines will deny entry until you get a booster.

Its time to call this an endemic and let it run its course - spend the money on better health care and more access to ICU beds. No more money for people who are being affected by lockdowns that the government is forcing upon everyone.

Let me be the devil's advocate on this:
The fact is that if we don't listen to the doctors, who do we listen to? When you go for a surgery, do you say "no anesthesia I want to see what you are doing because I don't trust you". No! We trust the system as its has worked for us in the past. So now, what gives? It is also a fact that doctors and scientist make mistakes along the way to a new discovery- that's how science works. It is an iterative process. They don't deny it either. Mistakes will cost money!
The amount of confusing information and misinformation is overwhelming and that is not helping either. By the way, Robert Malone after being infected with Covid run to get a shot. But it was too late. The vaccine has to be administered BEFORE you get sick and it didn't work.

I think it boils down to do we trust our government and institutions or not. If not, then that's a bigger problem than Covid!

I couldn’t agree more! Let’s face it, after 2 years of this crazy life, people are really frustrated and are looking for someone, or something to blame. Finding someone at fault helps to bring some kind of order out of what appears terribly chaotic. The easiest targets are the institutions charged with controlling and administrating society’s response to the pandemic, government and science.Every misstep, every wrong prediction causes people to doubt their effectiveness. Unfortunately, we don’t have the Global Pandemic Handbook to call upon. There have been and will continue to be mistakes made. However the alternative, throwing up our hands and relying on Facebook experts and You Tube tutorials for our way out of this mess, is the definition of insane. I trust mechanics to repair my car, accountants to prepare my taxes, and doctors and scientists to keep me healthy.

Yes, frustration is the key word here. So many people are frustrated because with each lockdown, vaccine mandate, mask mandate, stay at home order, additional booster and everything else under the sun, everyone is told that it will get better if you comply. Then the next wave that comes is predicted the be the worst one yet so all you did was moot. Last Christmas was horrible for lots of people and it looks like it will be again. How come we haven't progressed in a year?

I agree that scientists and doctors should assist with the decision making but it looks like the scientists say that the only solution is 100% world wide vaccine implementation which will never happen. The scientist comes from a different point of view where in a lab or a controlled area we can get this utopia but it is not possible on a world scale. There are lots of scientists who have a different point of view (ie a person who had COVID recently has antibodies and does not need vaccines at the moment) but those doctors are not making it to the public scene because the ones in charge have made their stand and it differs and they want a unified stand.

It is time that governments everywhere consider this an endemic. Those who want the vaccine have gotten it already and all the coercion, intimidation and bullying tactics will not get those people who do not want it to comply. You don't need to be afraid of the person who isn't vaccinated - if they get COVID they'll be visibly sick and wont' want to go out. Be afraid of the person who is vaccinated, catches COVID and has minor symptoms but still goes to work, or teaches your children, or gives you your booster shot while slowly spreading it everyone.

COVID is here to stay and will be with us for decades. Politicians and Doctors need to get us to the next level. We have 85% of the population fully vaccinated which should be more than enough to start focusing on learning to manage this virus. If it means more hospital beds and ICUs then so be it. Better than spending billions to keep people at home on CERB.

The vast majority of people did trust the government and the doctors at the beginning of this but once the hypocrisy all around us started getting noticed cooperation started to slide, and rightfully so.

The goalposts keep moving, there’s no word on when we’ll ever get to stop wearing masks and even the most cooperative of people are now getting upset about it.

If this whole situation doesn’t seem fishy to you, you aren’t paying attention.

I am afraid I have to disagree Jim L. In order for this virus to be defeated, there will have to a world wide concerted effort to vaccinate as many people as possible. With large reservoirs of yet unvaccinated people, the virus will continue to mutate and will present a constant threat to the entire world. For years, our society has placed a great deal of faith and trust in medicine and science. Their victories and triumphs have far outweighed any mistakes or failures. So much so that we almost take their infallibility for granted. This time, they have made errors and have been seemingly continually outsmarted by a microscopic virus. This shaking of the public trust has left many people looking for easy, simple to understand answers to sooth their confusion. Social media has feasted on this desire for clarity with devastating results. imagine where would we be now, if there had been as much resistance to the polio vaccine, or small pox, or a host of others, as there is presently to the Covid vaccine? This talk of government conspiracies or mad scientists running about unchecked, isn’t helpful and I am afraid provides some people with not only false, but potentially dangerous information as well.

Loaders, you got it man. I recently read that we should closely follow what is happening in Europe to have a better idea what's coming down the pike for us. We lag behind them a few months in this mess. This is clearly a speculation based on the radio and tv news at this point, but it's becoming more clear by the day that mandatory vaccinations will be implemented very soon. Austria and Germany will probably lead, but the rest of the European Union will follow in the weeks to come. This is due to the concern that if not done that way, the current situation will get worse and last decades. We know much better now that this virus mutates like crazy mostly among unvaccinated. This is slowly being compared to a war effort as only a war could justify these otherwise draconian measures. One thing is for sure, this 'inconvenience' will last much longer than most people are willing to tolerate. The sad part is that they are not calling the shots, the virus is.
My question is how bad this situation will have to get before the governments agree to vaccinate the whole planet - and for free too. I know it sounds wild.....

@loaders I am sure we can go back and forth hundreds of times disagreeing to each other but at least we both agree on the fact that many people in Canada are completely frustrated that we have gone a whole year, vaccinated so many people and now stuck in the same situation as a year ago. @Phantom T said it best - The vast majority of people did trust the government and the doctors at the beginning of this but once the hypocrisy all around us started getting noticed cooperation started to slide, and rightfully so. Canada is one of the top countries in the world based on population for vaccine uptake along with many European countries. If we're still struggling then maybe the doctors in charge should look at other options. Lets hope that Government can figure this out sooner than later because the large reservoirs of yet unvaccinated people left in the world will not go away any time soon-if at all.

You are absolutely correct. People are frustrated, and as a result are looking for someone or something to blame for this seemingly, never ending mess. I appreciate that, and occasionally feel the same way. However, at present it appears that all governments and the bulk of the scientific community are in agreement that continually increasing the number of vaccinated people and administering boosters shots, is the way out of this.The alternative, would be the collapse of our health care system, as serious cases continue to overwhelm our hospitals and ICUs, and the decimation of our senior population residing in retirement and long term care facilities such as we saw in the pre-vaccination days. I am entirely in favour of continued research into alternative treatments and different methods of pandemic control, but to throw up our hands screaming that the government got it terribly wrong so to hell with the whole God Damn thing, is not the answer and would only exacerbate our current situation. Merry Christmas Jim!

Did you noticed lately that media doesn't described details about how many vaccinated or not vaccinated were infected?
Here is why:

"The seven-day rolling average of new cases is now 2,863, compared to 1,328 last Monday.

Of the confirmed cases today, 746 involve people who are unvaccinated, 119 involve those who are partially immunized, 2,781 involve fully vaccinated people, and 138 involve those with an unknown vaccination status.

Unvaccinated Ontarians represent about 18 per cent of the province's population and account for about 20 per cent of all new infections today."

Igor, if you want to se some really interesting and much more telling numbers, go the the Ontario Science Table Dashboard. An easy find on the web. There you’ll see the real difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated. Vaccinated people 93% less likely to end up in hospitals. Vaccinated people 96% less likely to end up in ICU. People are always free to hold the opinion that governments and scientists lie, but numbers don’t. It is worth a look before you make up your mind one way or the other.

Good morning! As @loaders suggested I looked up the Database Dashboard.. Well.. Another prooving point that it's more confusing..
All I know we have to learn Greek to properly identify all current and future variants, and it's still sounds Greek to me..
Fourth shot is around the corner.
Three times shot citizens wont have there advantages for long..
I'm not against - I want to make my own choice based on my knowledge and my own medical history..
Still like you all people!!!

Insisting that vaccines don’t work because they require boosters, is like saying your car doesn’t work because you have to keep filling up the gas tank.

Sorry Loaders. Don't agree with you there as it's too sweeping of a statement. That statement might be correct for some Vaccines.....but specific to this topic, the boosters are not working the way they should. and you shouldn't need a booster so close to a double dose. I know this is a VERY polarizing topic so hopefully we can stay discussion oriented.....Cheers all.
