Also has office at 168 rue Principale Chateauguay bledorexpress.ca

Brokered numerous loads to us, customer paid them directly
Anyone else having trouble getting paid?
Owner is Richard, dispatcher is James.
Thanks

Stiffed a client of mine for $2550 January 2020. Too little to further pursue since both shipper and Ble d'or were Quebec based, and consignee was in Winnipeg.

Their address back then was 8531 Ch Delmeade, Montreal

Just as a general rule, unless I know the broker exceedingly well, we simply do not supply services for companies with a 514, 450, or 418 area code, or an address anywhere in Quebec.
What's the difference were the Broker is located?

How does the province of QC play a role in your trust of Brokers?

It has just been my experience over the last 40 years that if I am going to have trouble with a load broker they have a Quebec area code. Same goes for a Nevada or Long Island, NY area codes. Now-a-days the same is true for a lot of new 905 and 416 area codes.
From my perspective, if we (the broker and I) don't already have an established relationship, then it takes an awful lot of vetting to work with a new broker from one of these areas. Basically we are never going to do a hurry up and go get it load from someone new to me.

We have been seeing people use the Voice IP thing where they can choose any area code they like... some are not even in North America... this is what scares me. Now we ask for an email as a test before we commit to anything - so we can vet the broker.

Yea, we've seen that too. That's why the vetting process takes so long. The other thing I do with new brokers is keep asking for references until I get one that I know and trust.
For my moneys worth it's cheaper to bounce home from southern Pennsylvania than it is to take a load I'm highly unlikely to be able to collect on.

Thank you and sorry to hear about that.

And the reverse is true as well. I've found that Quebec based carriers are reluctant to work with Ontario based brokers. I try hard not to make generalisations about people, but there are patterns in business that one must take into account or we suffer the consequences... certain accents.. carriers/brokers/shippers from certain areas etc. I try to keep an open mind.

I like to think of myself as an equal opportunity employer. By that I mean, I try to give everyone an equal chance to screw me. The ones that do never see a stick of my freight again and their names are broadcast here on this site and anywhere else I can expose them. The ones that don't are treated fairly, paid promptly and offered more of whatever freight I might have. I have found over the years that where they have their offices located, or what language they speak with their family, has little or no bearing on their morals or business ethics.

I agree ... it's all about work ethic and values. We just discussed the BC situation at our company ... and we haven't pulled our trucks from regular customers... if we happen to be in BC / have capacity that's okay... but will not screw over a regular customer... hope people remember this ..

I agree.. but.. when I see certain area codes show up on my call display I immediately get a negative vibe.. am I the only one who feels that way? Maybe I'm evil and heartless..

Not at all. Don't get me wrong, we are all victims of our ingrained biases and prejudices, myself included. What I am trying to say is kind of like that old Missouri saying, "show me". If you are a dick and a con artist, the proof will be in your actions, not in my preconceived notions. I am going to give everyone the benefit of the doubt....until you show me otherwise. Could it cost me.....yes, but I believe it is worth it.
