Been trouble free in the past but currently 62 days & counting.

So had set up and done ONE load for them in 2019 - called in for a load and everything set - then I get told we need to get set up again - but they are not setting up new carriers - then why post on the link...when my other brokers / shippers do not want to work with new carriers they email us as a pool 'preferred carriers'. so frustrating... is there anyone at Delmar that we can talk to

Only 1 possible scenario and thats insurance company wont offer coverage to freight if shipped with new carriers

How can a company that needs trucks , not be setting up new trucks.... kinda doesnt make any sense

I am baffled.... and if not setting up then why post loads on the Link??? So we called for a load and the 'broker' sent us the rate Con form Delmar - saying tell them to take me off it and put you on...so I emailed Delmar with the Load# - and they were 'well ou shouldn't have been sent the Rate con' - they choose to work with this carrier who sends their Rate Con to others but not set up legit carriers ... whatever

sooo... update - got the Delmar load from another 'broker'.... I think I'm going to argue why we cannot work direct and have to go thru already set up carriers/brokers who are clearly not able to move it themselves...
and then wait to be blacklisted - right?

Its Delmar - they quite possibly have the lowest regard for any carriers ever - the disdain for trucking companies and drivers permeates the entire organization. My experience tells me you are better off running empty than taking their freight anyhow.

I usually avoid certain brokers - Delmar, TQL ... but some days have no choice - but yes agreed

They are not setting up new carriers at the moment because too many loads given to new carriers are coming back as double brokered. There are also way too many 'new' carriers that are just ugly shadows of their past carrier name - they don't want to give the load to a guy that was blocked previously but the name changed. Loads are posted on the link and they only want to work with carriers that have proven effective before - there is still many of us still around.

I'm glad they're taking steps to limit the opportunity for double brokerage.

This issue is the loads are still being double brokered - even when proof is presented to them with the Carrier's name etc.. they don't care ... so this is really not an effective way to stop double brokering they are just stopping legit carriers from being set up... we did work for them in 2019 and then this year they refused to consider that...loss for them

they dont even pay that much cash how are they dbl brokered
The outfit that double brokers offers more money to the final carrier so they'll take it. Obviously there is no intention of paying the final carrier and the original broker is left paying the final carrier as per the BOL act. The guy in the middle holds out for as long as he can and then buggers off someplace where nobody can find him. Everyone else basically gets screwed. The carrier only gets paid the original amount (but better than nothing), the original broker pays twice.

Or, sadly, the owner of the goods if the broker dissapears also.

Keep well,
Mike

Double brokering….ugh, the mere mention of it makes my skin crawl. It is without question, the scourge of our industry, adversely affecting all parties of the transportation chain. It embodies the worst elements of unbridled, unethical greed. The fraudulent type of double brokering that Jim mentioned is the worst of a wretched bunch. Although the “Bill of Lading Act” can be used in court to provide some guidance, it is not always guaranteed to produce satisfaction for the unpaid carrier in each and every case. The best defence is to be continually vigilant, on the part of brokers and carriers alike.

@Jim L I beleive that there are also carriers out there taking excess loads from brokers with the anticipation of making a few bucks brokering it and paying the delivering carrier. When they can not cover it, they simply say please recover your load the truck is broken down, my driver had a familiy emergency and on and on.

This has been going on for years. It's why a dilligent purchaser of a carriers services needs to track cancellations and question or block suppliers that have a high cancallation rate. Perhaps Delmar was burned a few too many times and they have introduced this policy as a result.

Keep well,
Mike
