Finding loads for new carrier

Hello,
I am starting a trucking company doing flatbed work. Is it is gonna be hard for me to find loads since i am a new carrier and have no references yet. Thinking of doing Open board from loadlink and from other carriers until i get some direct freight from reputable brokers. Any leads would help me a lot.
 
initially the first year most of the broker's don"t accept authority for less than one year.
the insurance company doesn"t allow you to hire a driver with less than 3 years experience as well as owner-operator so what else lft.
i had same challenges and still. right now its a right time covid over
 
I got the insurance part covered. And i have few drivers with enough experience. I think i need to worry about the freight & brokers
 
Log on to the National Brokers Association website. It will give you a list of all of their members. From that, you can prepare a mass emailing to introduce yourself and your company. Every broker I know, including myself, can never have too many approved carriers to call upon. In addition, use this site to identify yourself and describe the services you offer. Providing transportation services to freight brokers is fine, however do not stop looking for your own, direct customers. To be successful, you will need a mix of both. Identify the type of service you want to concentrate on, domestic Ontario, intra Canada or cross border and then look for the customers who require that specific service. Be focused on what you are offering and don’t spread yourself thin. Good luck!

The more direct customers you can find the better. That way there is no broker taking 500 usd off the top on every load!
 
Best tool today is Instagram or a very good website, especially showing off those shiny trucks and ctpat yard with aerial view of the property

Customers want to see who you are without leaving their desk or picking up the phone
 
Iron Claw; remember you cannot negotiate with the fuel pump & banks have no humor when it comes to late payments.

Remember that when a broker says "but I'll be in the negatives" it's not your issue they should've bid accordingly you're not here to help them bridge their shortcomings.

Don't allow them to strong-arm you into decisions you don't want; they've over time developed a sixth sense for when shit is about to hit the fan, and have adopted an "I'd rather delegate the shit than be responsible for it" mantra.

Glossary:

Load is being pushed out = I found a cheaper truck
I'll call the shipper now = Instagram
FCFS but need an ETA = carrier fell out on an appointment now I'm hail-marrying a truck.
My coworker is an idiot that entered it into the system wrong = definitely an idiot but also found a cheaper truck
Waiting on a PO# = no load they are still bidding
I'll take care of you = man doesn't have the authority from the boss to take care of me.

Keep in mind, the “glossary” that was posted above applies to all load brokers, the stand alone ones and the ones that are “divisions” of asset based carriers, selling off their “extra” freight.
“We have to cancel on your load because A) driver has a personal emergency and needs to come straight home. B) our customer refused the load and the trailer won’t get empty. C) the truck has broken down and parts aren’t available”.
= they found a better paying load.

My favorite is

"Drivers grandmother passed away last night while he was in transit to your p/u. Please recover the load- driver changed routes during the Night and went straight home with empty trailer "

Im sure this story works for some call center but anyone who wasn't born yesterday knows with 100% certainty no dispatcher or driver is allowed to move the truck empty even if the sky is falling
