Just a little heads up and a warning about a firm called 2547581 Ontario Ltd. DBA: Transport North America. For the past 4 to 6 months we have been trying to get payment from them for 3 loads they contracted us to move for them. During that period of time, we have been given excuses and been blown off by "Ron" who promised to return our calls. While trying to get payment from shipper, we learned that 2547581 Ontario Ltd. DBA: Transport North America actually doubled brokered all three loads. I strongly suggest being very careful in either giving them any freight or accepting any from them.

Had a near run ins with A&P, Wolfrun and Jupiter, luckily we bailed before we got dinged. Trouble is, those that they double brokered on, the primary brokers don't want to pay up either........been forced to go their clients to get paid.

I find it strange that the primary broker wouldn't pay the transporting carrier.

It's only happened once (for me) where I found a rebrokerd shipment wasn't paid for (to the transporting carrier). Who would want a transporting carrier calling their customer and their customer (or supplier) to inform them that I gave their shipment to a company that rebrokered it and that the ultimate carrier wasn't paid? It tells them that I am sloppy. I'm not vetting my suppliers properly and it's a risk to their business.

We paid the carrier because it was our mistake. I'm just glad the freight delivered without incident.

I've done everything I could since to never allow it to happen again. It was a few years and a few gray hairs ago.

Keep well,
Mike

I was the same when I was XPO and Livingston Freight way back when. Pay the transporting carrier, and if you have any outstanding invoices due to the double brokering carrier, deduct that payment their receivables.....

Any luck at all? They aren't answering the phones now when we call. Why are there so many low life scum suckers in this damned industry?

Unfortunately for us they are playing in a grey area, we do not have means of enforcement for these scams. Criminals are lazy, find loopholes and grey areas and run with it until someone can stop them. They play this game very well, and play on peoples weaknesses, we are our own worst enemies, if the deal seems too good it is........Due diligence and not trusting any new carries/brokers and putting them through proper checks and balances even if you miss booking at load or truck.

I am a broker that has been burned by this company under multiple names now, they have even held loads hostage until we paid them, leaving us no money to pay the carrier that did the freight. Other times, we didn't even know until the transporting carrier contacted our shipper and then something was worked out. I honestly am so frustrated, I try to run an honest brokerage and care about the companies we work with and we keep ending up getting screwed by these super shady folks. Any suggestions for 100% being able to verify carriers? I would like to avoid these issues in the future and ensure I am working directly with the transporting carriers?

@JenniferM sorry to hear you have been taken many times by these crooks but sorry to say you must be an easy target for them. You need to advise your client as well shipper who is coming to load your their load, if that is not the truck that shows up........don't load it. There is lots of other information on this site of how to correctly vet your carriers but think this one should help you the quickest but don't stop there.

Thank you for that, I've become more diligent with references etc as well. And we stopped doing COD unless properly vetted or we know the carriers personally. I hope karma comes for these people one day.
