Border Adjustment Tax - is this really going to happen?!

Trying to predict what might happen in the future, especially when it involves an unpredictable man like Trump, is an exercise in futility. If we base our prediction on his words and actions to date, then the future certainly holds numerous surprises for sure. Personally, I believe his biggest challenge will be convincing his fellow Republicans to go along with some of his more controversial proposals. Remember, the guy was a registered Democrat up until a few years ago, and doesn't really fit the mold of a classic, Republican politician.

I agree, predicting the future just gets people worked up sometimes for nothing. I also agree 100% that he doesn't fit the mold of a classic Republican politician. Or for that matter, any other party on earth. Don't get me wrong, I am not a huge Trump fan for many reasons, however the traits that cause people to despise him are the same traits that cause millions of voters to love him.
Again, time will tell. Maybe he will be the first politician in history to have said things just to get elected.

Definitely polarizing ... and he doesn't fit any political party ... if anything he is more a Democrat than a Republican.

In some ways I love him, but in others I'm giving my head a shake. He's kinda like how Rob Ford was with a bigger mandate and bigger wealth, but minus the drugs and alcohol and probably 100 lbs or so.

I don't know if I would absolve Trump of any and all addictions or personality flaws just yet. I agree, there are similarities between Ford and Trump, especially the bluster. I have a sneaky feeling that there is something about his past that will come to light and cause him some serious credibility issues. Perhaps his undisclosed taxes, maybe the "unverified" Russian dossier. We will have to wait and see how he adjusts to having a boss/bosses (Congress, the Senate, the American people) for the very first time in his adult life. He may not like it much.

Not to down play the seriousness of it all, but it's going to be entertaining as hell.
Just remember, we are only 24 months away from the kick off to another election!

Let's not forget that the US President, as an individual, basically has no power at all. He may have big changes that he wants to make but we'll have to see how his party votes for these proposed changes. He can't veto everything and use his executive powers.............can he??

Needless to say, the next 4 years will indeed be quite entertaining. Trump has done one good thing - he has given every comedian, talk show, and comedy sketch show a crap-load of material to work with!

Short answer is yes, he can excersice his executive powers and also his veto, pretty much whenever he wants. However getting bipartisan support for his initiatives is always the preferred method. Makes the President look less like a dictator. Interesting times indeed.

It's funny just spent a week on Florida and they did not want to discuss politics at all, just us Canadians and CNN.
