Ive never dealt with a more awful carrier than this. They took a shipment from me and after picking it up sent an email informing me that our credit was declined and so our shipment had been put on COD. They advised that they would not deliver the load until the balance was paid. I found this strange, as I had just finished 3 other credit apps that day and was given an abundance of credit by companies much larger and credible than these clowns. I paid the freight, as to keep a good relationship with all involved, and waited for delivery. When the load was delivered, there were major damages to my freight. 34,000 dollars worth actually, and this is obviously the reason they demanded payment prior to dropping it off. A lesson learned I suppose. I should have just reported the load stolen. Anyways, I hope a ton of people see this and dont do business with this company. Im sure this isnt the first or the last time this has happened with them...buyer beware!!

I would send the claim directly to their insurance company. Sounds like if you send it to them it will go nowhere.
Good luck!

Yes, however I had a computer crash on me with all of my carriers info on it, including their insurance documents (I have an external backup hard drive now). Naturally, they are not providing me with a new set of insurance papers so that I can move forwards on this. Perhaps some type of legal action is required? I havent had to deal with this before from anyone. Typically, if there is a claim, carriers are very good about accepting responsibility for it....Teams however, not so much.

If they are licensed to operate in the US, you can find their current insurance information on Safer.

Oh awesome! I found it! Thank you very much for your help. I have a customer holding funds until this is sorted so this will go a long ways in resolving this. Thanks again

Just FYI - if you don't have a copy of the insurance with your company listed as certificate holder, the claim can be voided.

Huh? I'm with you on trying to have all carriers you work with have you listed as certificate holder, but if not they can dismiss your claim? How so?

Keep well,
Mike

Not necessarily misto 27. The party making the claim, is the owner of the goods, not Maci.F. If the B/L shows Teams Transport as the carrier, their insurance provider should respond. Their cargo insurance policy is in place to cover claims made by the owner of the goods they are entrusted with. If Maci.F is a freight broker, it is always prudent and advisable to be a certificate holder on all of the policies of the carriers you employ. Not necessarily for freight claims, but for more serious liabilities such as motor vehicle accidents that a broker can be dragged into, especially in the US.

We've had a claim refused by a insurance company as we weren't listed as certificate holder. Apparently, it's legal to do so.
So now, if we don't have a copy with our company listed as the holder, we are not giving the carrier any shipments.

This is our experiences. Might not be the real reality but still....

Aha! Yes, if you're a 3PL and never the owner of the goods nor listed anywhere on the BOL I can see how an insurance company would say you aren't really a party to the BOL (legal document of transport). Technically it's your customer (owner of the goods) who has a claim against the carrier/insurance company and so if the claim came from them directly, I'm sure the insurance company would have to respond/investigate. It's why we chose our wording properly when putting forth a claim "our customer ABC Company issues this claim in accordance...". That being said, we sure as hell do our best to determine if a claim is frivolous in nature before approaching a carrier about it. The last thing we want is to waste any ones time.

Keep well,
Mike

Teams Transport does quite a bit of work for us on a regular basis. The accounting department is not only very efficient but quite professional to deal with. Any issue I have come across is resolved immediately. They've also been around for quite some time now and know the industry.

I believe there is a "2nd side" to the original post here - which hopefully will transpire at some point.

There is no "2nd" side. This is exactly how it went down.

- Teams took a shipment from me.
- They picked up the shipment
- Their accounting department forwarded an email to me next day saying the account was on COD and would not deliver the load until the balance was paid
- Balance was paid
- Shipment was delivered damaged, although I should mention that the claim amount is now 7104 dollars rather than an astronomical 32,000
- I have requested insurance etc multiple times and had no response. Ive followed the advice of a member here and got what I was looking for

Thats it. no need to tell half a story here on my side. It was a disappointing experience; im certain one of many more to come in the industry. Its only the opinion of me and how I feel about dealing with them. Im sure they are wonderful people, I have no doubt. The process has just been painful.

Tread lightly here Maci.F. You are a new member and we have rules to follow on this forum. There is always another side to the story - which I have confirmed myself this afternoon with TEAMS directly.

You are best to work out any issue with a carrier directly first. Work it out in a professional manner.

T E A M S has handled 3-5 shipments a year for me for several years running. No claims which is good because we do give them such low volume.

The thing with claims is that they are never good for anyone. They take time. energy and stress from all parties: owner of the goods, 3PL, carrier, sometimes insurance company. Deal with the carrier and if required their insurance company. Solve the issue. Without the carrier posting a reply here (the second side of a story) further harping doesn't really accomplish much.

Keep well,
Mike

From your earlier post I can take it that you are new to the business. If not why did you not request an insurance certificate in your name.

You are taking high risks when you book carriers without due diligence. I've seen my share of crappy carriers to know from experience.

Not to berate you, but this doesn't sound right.

I'm wondering how he got a top poster award! I can't click on his username so I've a feeling he may have left or is being asked to cool off.
