I have a customer asking me to quote to go to the Whitehouse and the Canadian embassy in Washington DC.

Do I need any special permits to do either? Would anyone have any clue? I always thought 53 ft trailers where a no no in DC but trying to find info online is a pia so I thought I would ask all the good folks at IST.

We just had one of our guys down across from the capital building a few weeks back and he didn't have to carry any permits. He's been down in around there a few times and the only issue has been they don't want unattended trucks/trailers parked on the streets at any time. So going to find the customer and looking where to unload once you get there isn't a good idea.
Just to clarify..he's been in there with both 48 and 53's..

We have delivered to the White House, there is a secret service security check before getting in. The roof top snipers lost sight of my guy going to the rear unloading, so they made him do the security check twice. Other than that nothing special other than submitting driver, and truck info 3 days prior to arrival.

You would think they would deliver to an offsite warehouse and deliver in with their own equipment, just a thought.

Thanks Bubba,

Lowmiler this stuff cannot be transloaded. It will be a load of live trees and shrubs. Way to much work to switch it out.

Bluffs, thanks for the answers yesterday and you also Snafu I figured you would of been in the area at one time or another.

Martineav, Good advice on the fast carded driver that can never hurt.

Is it being shipped from the old Hershey plant in Tweed???
Maybe a gift of medicinal from Justin to Barack.

The cats already out of the bag Rob. You said it was "shrubs and trees"!

Sorry for the late reply to this thread.

I used to do office furniture types of deliveries to places like this all the time ... did the Pentagon, Supreme Court and some others. There are no special permits required, but you may want to be a bit picky on the driver you would send there just to make sure they'll pass security and won't get the 'rub and tug' routine too badly over there.
