Well Now I've Seen (Read) It All

Isn't that something hope all you Liberal voters are impressed with your government.

Just more Canadian rights and freedoms going down the drain as we give in to these Lefties. People came to Canada for the freedoms, but lets change the rules for us.
Sorry but east Indians are the worst for this. If you don't like it here the old country awaits your return.
My family came to Canada during the potato famine and we all have heard how the micks where treated so all these whiney libtards that jump on every bandwagon known to man and some that aren't if it is that bad here LEAVE!!

My hat is off to you Rob!!! Glad someone isn't afraid to tell it like it is. Ya made my Friday!

Let me add one more point now that I am all worked up. These people detained at the roadside inspections by CBSA has WARRANTS out for their arrest!!!! For skipping out on their deportations!

Hmmm, interesting to see how angry some are about the alledged "illegal" drivers who were caught up in this phoney road side inspection. Perhaps some of that rage could be directed at the employers who hired them? This thread should be linked to the one discussing the coming driver shortage. I'm all for people following the proper procedures for immigration into our country, but at least these people were working, not sitting around at a coffee shop dealing dope. Like yourself Rob, my family came to Canada to escape the tragedy of the Irish potato famine. From what I remember hearing, the procedure was rather simple. If you could get here, sign your name, and had a friend or family member to go to, you were in. Quite a bit different from all the bureaucratic hoops and lengthy wait times of today. Oh well, those were simpler times I suppose and for the most part, it was primarily white Europeans wanting to get in. Whatever the race or culture of the current wave of immigrants, they seem to be treated with the same suspicion, disdain and intolerance shown to those who came before them.

No anger here just telling it like it is.

I suspect most if not all of the so called commercial drivers caught up in the blitz where driving cube vans etc. While I agree the employers should also be looked at as the only way I can see they could be paid is cash. That also hurts us Legal Canadians in the long run. The fact they where working and not on the corner selling dope is a bonus but most of the ones selling dope are illegal too and when they get deported they grab the next plane back.

People want to come to Canada, I can fully understand it but why come here and try and change this great country into one that is obviously not so great or why did you leave in the first place.

Canada is a big melting pot and that is one of the reasons it is so great. But why does a small minority seem to get away with murder so to speak by playing the race card and we want no reference to God or Christian religion because it offends us. So Canada has to change the values it was born with? Let's take the Lords prayer out of schools and some even want to change the words to our national anthem. There are tons more things also but the list would take all day to type.

My personal feelings are if you want to come to Canada - fine. Come on over there is lots of room and we will leave the light on. Want to come and change it into the old country? Then just stay where you are and save the plane fare.

Kodo's to CBSA and the MTO for pulling this off keep up the good work boys and girls...but remember this is costing all of us taxpayers a bundle to detain and hopefully deport these illegal's back to their country. That is if some Libtard judge does not fall for a sob story.

Rob - When (if) you get tired of the trucking game, get into politics. We need more people like you making the big decisions.

After reading the article I am a bit frustrated with the MTO who are cutting the ties with the CBSA. What we need is more enforcement, not less. A lack of enforcement only hurts the people who are abiding by the law.

I also agree with Loaders that the CBSA should be following up with the Canada Revenue Agency, WSIB and any other agency, to ensure that all these undocumented workers were hired and paid legally. Once they start the enforcement they should follow everyone up the chain. Its the only way to thwart the next group of undocumented individuals.

The fact of the matter is that the government needs to play by the rules, period. It would be the same as if they set up a "RIDE" program and had the MTO there checking over your vehicle at the same time, and CBSA there demanding your citizenship papers. How far do you think that would fly if they did that to everybody, everywhere??? There's ways to catch them, but I don't think this was it.

Exactly Robsan! I don't think that there are too many people who would accept a "police state", just to catch a few illegals, who in this case were working, not smoking crack and collecting government handouts. The whole discussion about the effects of immigration, good or bad, should not be what this thread is about. As evidenced by some of the comments, that `hot button``topic, is probably best left outside of a transportation forum.

I have to pipe in here now that I have calmed down a little bit. I love Canada for being open and generous and accepting of others. I believe that for the most part our system of interviewing refugees is fair and just. I believe our system of granting temporary visas to others is generous as is our system of allowing family members of immigrants to come and also people of the professional class with skills to offer. I also know that once you have been issued a warrant for arrest by Immigration Canada it is because you have either overstayed your visa, or have not attended your scheduled hearing to determine your eligibility to stay in Canada, or have committed a crime punishable by a sentence of 5 years of over, or have been found to have lied on your original application. This means you don't get deported for stealing a chocolate bar, or even simple assault for that matter. These persons are contacted by Immigration Canada by means of letter and if they do not present, a warrant is issued for their arrest. So my own personal opinion is that if you have been issued a warrant, it means you are in quite a little bit of trouble. Canada's system is quite different from that of the United States, whereby citizens that are of "illegal" status live in constant fear of being deported for the simple fact that they are in the country illegally. I do not know if the branch of government that issues Social Security numbers for example is notified by Immigration Canada. So I cannot say if an employer would or would not know of the outstanding warrant. My suspicion is that they might not always know. Not all government branches communicate with others. But the long and short of my rant is that I truly feel that these individuals know quite well they have overstayed their welcome or have other pressing matters that they have ignored. There are always individuals that fall through the cracks of the system. But I am proud of our system and I know for a fact it is very forgiving. Thus, I do not feel all that much sympathy towards those with outstanding warrants, if I read the article right. I do not believe that CBSA was just randomly asking drivers to prove their eligibility to be here. Rather, they were enforcing their right to follow through with decisions that have already been made against certain persons. Phew, that got a lot off my chest!

POLICE STATE ?!? .... Don't think for one bloody second that you don't already live in a police state.
Perfect example ... the .05 BAC 72 hour driver's license suspension .... IT'S NOT EVEN LAW !!!!! ... it's OPP "policy". Their only saving grace is that citizens can't get to court in time to fight it.

As for the rest or it ... CBSA should nab illegals any way they can, and they should contact every other agency like CRA, WSIB, OHIP, etc ... if these guys aren't paying their fair share of the taxes, they have an unfair advantage over the rest of us.
