Does anyone have any information on this carrier good or bad? Address is 36 Lampman Drive in Scarboro. They are looking to move some freight for us. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Do not use ever!! Picked up in Calgary Wed. AM and guarenteed Thurs afternoon delivery in Portage L.P. MB. Our customers mistake as he had to get it moved ASAP due to production issues. Our regulars couldn't deliver till Monday due to Good Friday. We paid more than usual to get it there for Thursday. Our stupidity for going with an unproven carrier so don't berate us on that we know our mistake. Anyways long storey short, it was finally delivered the next Wednesday after numerous lies and us calling and e-mailing them 10-15 times a day with them hiding behind the answering machine.

Same experience. Loaded for Calgary out of Toronto with an ample delivery window. Still didn't make it and oh yes, the lies! Firmly placed on our DNU list.

I should have read this before I booked

Unfortunately,I booked 20' with Gate-Way from Toronto to Edmonton area. P/U was a day late, communication was virtually non-existent and then they "disappeared" for a few days. A litany of lies from beginning to end. The truck that delivered had "APM" on the door,so I am wondering about a double-brokered load situation. Needless to say-DNU

If it was APM out of Windsor they are a good carrier, if the load was late they must of been lied to. I would call them and pay them directly.

We used them last week on a team load from Ayr to Nisku, loaded Weds am and did deliver by noon Friday, good service. That said truck did show up to load with no load bars or straps as required and headed back to terminal to get these after loading. Not perfect, but have used them a few times with no major issues. Just Lucky?

Gate-Way

I was scared when I saw this thread last week as Gate-Way had already loaded a shipment for us. Load was delivered on time this morning and the disparcher called us an hour in to say only 4 skids had been unloaded and we may have waiting time - I was able to contact the reciever and avoid any charges.

Since this thread exists I will use caution, but my experience was great, so I will use again.

Hey,

We work with them on an occasional basis (1-2 per month) and can report some of the LTL shipments delivering a few hours after ETA (but not several days as is suggested by some other members).

I can be flexible on a few hours for a shipment travelling 2,000 miles, yes. A few days, not so much...

Will work with again for sure, note that I have been involved with some of the after hours communication with this carrier and was pleasantly impressed as to the availability and up to date information available.

Keep well,

Mike

Well, after reading the last few posts and having a few loads in the past go OK with Gate-way, I decided to give them a shot with a shipment out of BC last Friday. We got the confirmation driver was on his way and would pick up within the hour.

Forward to Monday - phoned from 9 am - 4 pm and no one answered, voicemail full, etc...Finally reached after hours who told me the driver didn't pick up. I could call back the next morning to see why, then hung up. Tried calling back for 2 hours and he wouldn't answer the phone.

Spoke with someone else at 7 pm, who said they didn't know why it wasn't picked up, but the truck must have been full. Said he couldn't help me get it back and he would let owner, Raj know about the problem.

Just hit my DNU list in a flash. Not even the decency to call me Friday to say they weren't picking up, no answer all Monday - and when they did answer the phone I was basically told it was my problem and nothing they could do.

Agreed.... Not worth the trouble(s).

Since my last post we have tendered the 'odd' shipment to this outfit. We also have now had a 'last' shipment with them...

Short version: exclusive TL, good $, 'reasonable' service time.

Issues: 'breakdown' was a lie that was demonstrated when a western Canada based carrier delivered (26 hours late to the install crew), spoke to the carreir that delivered in the end (and may pay them directly for their hard work in this one). When confronted these guys continued to lie - even when I told them I had already spoken to their 'furtherance' carrier... Still not sure how furtherance (crossdocking) is required for a sealed TL...

Bottom line: these guys are far from reputable, I've been keeping their factoring company up to date regarding their practices as their income is affected when this carrier breaks nearly every term and condition we have.

I'm sorry for not posting this earlier, it was just 2 weeks ago..

Keep well,

Mike

Affiliated to Alpine Transport

Here is some more good news about Gate-way.

In trying to locate another carrier, called Alpine transport, to which the guy from Gateway answered and said Harry was on phone. I asked him if they were gate-way as I was unaware of this and he replied yes.

How affiliated they are .. not sure.. Are they about to tank gate-way and start up under Alpine ???

Keep an eye out. They still have not returned my call since yesterday, but where nice enough to fax a cancel on my order ( 5 days after they said it was picked up )

Gateway

they needed chep pallets, and we xdocked their load for them, gave them our cheps, and have not seen or heard from them again, (we did charge them for cheps)

I have used Gate-Way in this last year numerous of times and they did good work for me, but just recently in the last month I had some major problems arise. I will try to keep this short. They did a LTL delivery for me into Vancouver BC, and things went horribly wrong. Driver showed up to the delivery, did not listen to instructions, and as a result the driver came inches away from crushing one of their dock employees. Rather then aplogizing the driver thought it was funny and laughed in the workers face. Driver also did damage to their dock. They called me immediately as they believed the driver might have been under the influence of something and were more worried about their employee who was just nearly killed and his mental state then the damage done to their dock. I called Raj immediately and was very surprised at his reaction. He didnt seem too concerned, and told me that he knows this driver and that he wouldnt do that. All of this was caught on video surveillance and even after I told him they have this all on tape he still didnt really seem to concerned. Not a single apology. Clearly on my DNU now.
