Looking for the payment trend on VTL Transport out of Lachine, QC. We are at 50 days and still have not received anything. Anyone else have this problem?

Quick to bill, slow to pay....That's the Larry Burns way!!!

They used to pay in 65-70 days when I worked there....

But, recent changes in the flyer distribution gimmick will make them probably slower. I would beware for the next few months....

Vtl

I would not go as far as saying that the Flyer distribution is a gimmick, but seeing that both VTL and Groupe Levasse are in the business, it may be viewed as an inside joke!

We do a load here and there for Duncan and get paid within 45 days, check in hand. I would not be worried for the moment, call acccts. payable and she will most likely sort you out and explain the delay.

We have been surprised by how quickly they have paid over the last 2 years.

I didn't mean ''gimmick as in gimmick''...bad wording I guess...

Since QUAD graphics is now owned by Transcontinental, VTL's good days in the flyer business are gonna be less fast.

And yes Alx, we are in the run to get A LOT of it (flyers that is).

Flyer distribution

That is a really tough business, especially if you have to outsource it.

You need really good planners, dispatchers and exceptional drivers to keep things going smoothly.
Also a little prayer that the printing press does not go down!!

I'm sure that Alex is working out well for you! He certainly comes with enough experience in the flyer business.

Yep, it sure is a lot of planning, especially when our little Laval operation moved over 1 million pounds per week for a straight month before xmas (all this in 10000 sf).

Alex came with experience, contacts and is a step ahead of every move Transcon and Pro-distribution does. He actually called the Quad sale 1 month before it actually happened lol. He's the one who hired me and put me in charge. If I can toot our own horn, I think we are VERY efficient at what we do and Pro distribution sees that I guess....

I had the pleasure of Working with Alex's Lovely and talented wife many moons ago, prior to Alex's initiation into the industry!
I also have had the opportunity to deliver freight to many of the new England destinations.
To say that delivery to certain locations is a challenge is an understatement.

Good luck in your venture!

Oh yes, some places can be fun with a bunk and a 53' lol...

Thanx a lot alx !!

Flyers, magazines, coupon books .... they're all declining businesses. There's a reason why Quebecor went under bankruptcy protection a couple of years ago and more consolidation in printing is coming for sure. If we're lucky, it will be an orderly wind-down over time.
