We got a call today from a guy claiming to be from a collection agency and that he was a private investigator, asking about customers that owe us money.
When we told him we weren't owed anything, he basically called us liars and started his whole spiel again!

After a few minutes, I'm sure he determined we were not interested in his services, and he began to badmouth us, saying we must be poor if we don't have money owed to us, that we must be on facebook all day, asking when the last time we (dispatchers) kissed. The guy was straight up rude, unprofessional, and very determined to not listen to a word we told him. Eventually we just hung up the phone.

He didn't give a name or company, wondering if anyone else has had a similar call? He's called us a few times and his signature line is "What do they owe ya, 5, 10, 50 thousand?!"

I'd be interested to find out where he's calling from.

did you do a reverse lookup on the phone number he called from

He must have been going down a list of carriers/brokers. I got the same call, he was very pleasant at the beginning then 2 minutes into the call after I said we didnt have a problem, thanks for calling leave me your number and we will call if something comes up he turns into a pit bull saying I was lying and wasting his time.
I then told him to hang on for a second to pull a file, put him on hold for about 10 minutes while I went out for a smoke. Then came back and said, oh looks like they paid it afterall. Good times.

Yes, definitely well done! He's called us once before and as soon as he called this time, we knew exactly who he was. He can't possibly be working for a company, no one would let their employees speak to people on the phone like that.

I just received the same call. It is definitely an American accent. It was a private number.

The dual position P.I. / Collector 9.99% of the time is a bunch of hoopla / sales pitch agency's have used that line for a number of years. If you think about the cost factor when you are told by an agency P.I.'s are not cheap and when you tried to low ball their rates odds are you will receive a low ball service. Now agency's will used P.I.'s on some accounts normally with higher perimeters but they are very selective. The majority of accounts are not P.I'ed as they call it in the industry your accounts are worked by telephone collectors. So when you get a pitch from a agency that I'll have a P.I. at their door step or my field rep will be out there don't bank on it but they will ride the sales pitch. I knew of one agency that would claim they have a P.I. camp which is way over board on the illusion side.

I received a call earlier this month from the same company. If it is the same people, there're called NRG & Assoc. from Dallas TX. The first call was from their 'bird dog" sniffing out possible leads. I made the mistake of telling them that we did have one bad account that was going to be sent to collections. Sure enough, the next day, I had a call from one of the most aggressive salesman I have ever spoken with. He finished each sentence with " so you're giving us this account?" Needless to say, the discussion soon degenerated to the point where he was calling me a poor business manager. That may or may not be the case, however I don't appreciate hearing it from some smart-mouth bully who is not sitting across the desk from me in person. Quite an experience to say the least.
