I read an article today, Tans Core indicating that load postings have increased in the last year by 36%....I think they seem to think that the economy is booming....I'm thinking they forgot to include that the reason for the 36% climb is due to how many carriers had to close their doors, the shortage of good quality drivers which equals there is more freight posting as the carriers that are still here have a need to out source the freight that they obtained from the carriers that had to close their doors? Any more thoughts on this? Just a random thought.

Or also the fact that some of the rates are still so low, that it is difficult for brokers and carriers to cover them by means of their regular contacts. We have been having to turn down some loads lately because the rate being offered is the same rate from a year ago when fuel was $0.80/litre. Anyone else experiencing this?

Agreed,

Don't forget the 'test', 'just looking' and 'rates' postings. Many of those are not freight moving, just people looking for contacts for future business. Has this increased over the last year, or is it consistent?

Happy Friday,

Mike

Perhaps the increase in load postings is caused by more inbound loads being put on the system. With fewer trucks going into the US, making a couple of phone calls to cover your inbound load just won't get the job done, you have to post pretty much everything. As well, prehaps there are more intra-Canadian loads being posted than a few years ago.

Alot of the increase is the seasonal influx that happens every Spring. Also in Ohio there are all kinds of loads of fertilizer, lawn and garden supplies moving. If you think it is busy now - wait a couple weeks when the landscapers and nurseries get going - good luck finding a truck in Ohio then. And lets not forget the 500 postings a day by 3 different brokers posting the cream of all freight - peat moss loads out of Niagara Falls. I called one like I do every year for a joke. The rate went from 1.10/mile last year to 1.05 this year.... But they cover them - just goes to show !!!!

I appreciate everyones input, especially when the feedback is of professional manner....just wish we could some how reverse the "unethical players" that have stepped into our industry and turned it as a war zone against each other.

Rob, don't forget the 3 or 4 brokers posting the same load cause clients are shopping the crap out of every load and we're all getting pulled into the same game
Parisite, I understand how you think the load brokers shop loads to death, but a lot of time it is the Freight Forwarder that is responsible for importing that sends the load to every load broker and trucking company in the country. Us brokers deal with this everyday. Responsible ones know who the Freight Forwarder is and do not pass along the ones that pull this stunt.
Looking for rates on Load Link is really negating its purpose and pretty much useless, as is looking for a truck because you might come up with 100 trucks posted, but not one that actually has a truck there. Load Link because of this is getting so that it is not worth having anymore.
