APM Logistics

Just had a weird experience with this carrier.

I booked a load.
Faxed them the information, map, customs papers etc.

They said the truck had an 11am appt. My shipper closed at 2:30.

They said it would be tight. I said I would tell the shipper they might be a bit late, so someone could stay.

I offered them good money, what they asked and they called me at 10:00 am and said the truck was empty.

They asked for an address for the shipper and I gave the intersection which is the address and they said they would cancel the load. The boss said to cancel because no address.

They had a map, phone number etc. This is a manufacturing facility and trucks go there every day.

Something fishy, I suspect they got a better offer because not many trucks in the area.

I was furious and wanted to speak to the boss Ollie? but would not speak with me.

I have dealt with truckers for many, many years, but this is very despicable behaviour for a trucking company.

I would certainly not recommend or use their services ever again.

Does anyone have similar experiences with them.

Thanks,

I think my blood pressure shot off the chart on this one.

I did use them on a load in January. Truck picked up one day late due to a 'breakdown' - wasn't a hot load. There were customs issues on our end- they were patient and we compensated them for their time. Would use again on a similar shipment.

I did receive a phone call from Dave at APM, explaining that this driver would not be able to find the shipper. Some drivers do not speak English or read signs, so the instructions wouldn't have worked. I understand this is the case now with a lot of foreign drivers.

My apologies to APM and Dave, since he didn't drop my load for more money, although that happens a lot today.

It was an important load and perhaps I overeacted.

How the hell can you be a truck Driver in Canada and not read or write or speak english..just amazing.

Unfortunately, the truck drivers that have a "command" of the english language appear to be in the minority and it's not getting any better. I don't know how they get past US Customs/Homeland Security but they do.

While there's always been language issues with our country being bilingual..

the greater question and real issue here is what does it say for APM's hiring practices and apparent lack of concern for simple map reading skills that drivers must have.

It sounds as though they have a fair bit of work to raise their standards...

Afternoon all,

Any current experiences with Dave at APM with respect to service?
Thanks in advance and TGIF!!!

We have not done any work with APM but being from our neck of the woods we do know the carrier, They run some really shoddy equipment which I am surprised it is running up and down the road or how they can even hire drivers that are willing to driver that equipment, Typically when a company runs that type equipment usually tells a lot about how they run their operation
