Screwed over by Joyce Express
I was screwed by Steve at Joyce Express last week and lamented that there was no forum in which to express but then found this site.
I posted a load on LoadLink going from Winnipeg to Cedar Falls IA last Thursday morning that was ready for pick up either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.
Steve called me and said he had a driver en route to Winnipeg with a load and that he could load it Thursday afternoon and deliver on Friday.
Great, so I told him the load was his.
Then he called me back Thursday afternoon and said his driver was delayed and wanted to know how late he could pick up the load. I told him 4pm. He then told me there was no way he could make that time.
He then proceeded to complain that the rate we had fairly negotiated was not good enough.
Then he complained that he would now have to lay-over his driver in Cedar Falls for the weekend because he couldn't offload until Monday, despite the fact that it was HIS FAULT he made a promise he couldn't keep. After more complaining he agreed to honour our original agreement.
Then Friday morning around 10am I called him to see what time his driver would be picking up the load and he hadn't even bothered to call the shipper to arrange an appointment and proceeded to tell me that there was "some sort of problem" at his previous destination in Winnipeg (the Calgary load) and that he didn't think he wasn't going to be able to empty his trailer for the run to Cedar Falls.
So after calling 30 leads off of LoadLink I was finally able to find another carrier that could do the delivery, a day late and at the price I had agreed with the customer on.
So all this aggravation and time wasted and I was "just" able to break even on the load.
One of the carriers I called in desperation told me that it sounded like there was no delay and that Joyce had probably found a better paying load.
Then I happened to notice that he had a truck available out of Winnipeg on LoadLink that was posted at 8:30AM... which means he didn't have any intention of doing the load to Cedar Falls because he was already shopping his trailer around.
I then tried to give him yet another benefit of doubt by giving him an hour or two to resolve the issue and he blew me off. When I told him I'd never use him again and tell anyone I knew not to use him, he simply didn't care.
That's not the type of carrier I want to trust mine or my customers' loads to.
Apologies for the length of this post, but I want everyone to know the Joyce Express screwed me and they will screw you.
