Hey, good folks of IT!

One of my former colleagues called me recently and asked if I know someone who is hiring AZ drivers in GTA for a local P&D.
He already called a few people before me and got negative answers.
While we were discussing the matter, he mentioned that some of those drivers complained that companies stop to pay for layovers of a few days at the time for some time already.
I don't know what their pay structure is, but is it a new thing going wide spread or only included certain group of carriers?

GTA Local is becoming very heavily monopolized by a few carriers, who frankly do it very well, like A&B. So there's not a long space for smaller entrants. I'm not shocked there is not many hiring for it.

We downsized our local fleet by about 50% over the past 2 years and converted most of those trucks to highway.

@Igor Galanter Unfortunately its the one time we aren't looking for AZ drivers, we have a waiting list atm. Same goes for our LTL fleet of drivers, we seem to adding trucks weekly to our fleet, again there is a waiting list of qualified drivers. We are very fortunate to be in a position where we need to continually grow the fleet.

@Fr8Guru Thank you! Yes, we are working hard to be the go-to GTA local carrier for the players who need outstanding, honest, transparent service. Don't be shy about dropping our name ;)

We deeply value the relationship we've established with a large portion of the members here. We strive daily to exceed the expectations on every transaction.

Awww you didn't have too! Thank you tho, you're making our talented team here blush! Thanks again for the loyalty.

Oddly enough, we still have shippers or brokers thinking we are under the TFI umbrella, however that couldn't be further from reality. That damn swoosh logo concept we had it first!

We continue to pay for layovers. It's super hard now a days as getting return loads is extremely tough and layovers just eat away at the bottom line. Carriers are constantly faced with sending the driver towards home without freight or waiting and hoping someone will get a reload. The fact is that a driver (actually everyone) needs $XXXX.00 per week to live. If you cannot get that driver the money, then they will walk. How you get them that money or bundle it doesn't matter so long as it is greater than or equal what they need. What they are finding is that no carrier can get that money anymore or they promise it and it never shows. Price pressures are taking its toll on every carrier that doing everything lawfully, and the drivers feel it. The landscape has definitely changed.
