CAT Global Inc

This topic’s been talked to death. If I could actually short someone in transportation, it would have been CAT. A new head director, with limited experience, in a troubled economy will bring down once a reputable company.

Factoring companies checking out from CAT, is why you are seeing companies hold loads hostage. You cannot even get your AR insured with CAT as a debtor. CAT is essentially using the cashflow from the brokerage division to keep their own trucks on the road. What could possibly go wrong? Thankfully we have gotten paid, and I am appreciative of that fact. However, once folks stop taking loads from CAT, this house of cards will come crashing down.

P.S. Summers long over and it doesn't seem like the girls from accounting ever came back....

Guy in the Dallas office. He may have no idea they are not paying carriers.

To my knowledge, all payments go through their Canadian offices, and the way their loads sit on the board, I trust they are 1000% aware of the financial woes of their employer. I really do wish the best for CAT, Although they have been cheap lately, they used to be a very good broker across the board.

“The property’s posted on LoopNet — there’s definitely some smoke there.”

Well, seems to be for rent and not for sale but I guess if it's for rent, someone could buy it - listed since 01/21/2025 - but still weird.

So - just because, I checked. 4 rue du transport is almost empty since they merge with Vaudreuil. So the actual office is in Vaudreuil and not in Coteau-du-Lac anymore.

So, there's that.

Just to get facts straight.

Not sure if things are that bad or not, but just received an email from a collector:

Reaching out because over the past 60 days my firm have been conducting an investigation into the assets and liabilities of Cat Global Inc. This month I was able to recover a sizable amount of money for them for other carriers.

Over the past week we became aware that they laid off a significant portion of staff, some who have not been paid themselves based on the information I have seen.

We discovered that you were likely owed money by them. I think we have a short window of time to recover funds from them so we would like to assist you.

We operate on a contingency basis where if we do not get you paid, there is zero cost. Our rate is reduced here to 20% based on the total amount of claims we have received. This means you receive 80% and we are estimating turnaround time of about a week, based on the last claim.

If you would like to proceed please send me a copy of your invoices that are due.

Usually a larger company like CAT would have a set of different companies, and the properties would be owned by a different corporation from the operating company.

HUB and NFI both operated this way when I was with them.

Apologies for the delayed response. We have been reviewing the comments shared here and working to separate facts from speculation. As mentioned previously, this forum has unfortunately seen a significant amount of misinformation posted and repeated, which makes it challenging to address legitimate questions.

To be clear, C.A.T. Global remains in strong financial standing. We are in good standing with all factoring partners and continue to work collaboratively with carriers when payment timing issues arise.

As a reminder, our payment terms are 45 days from receipt of complete documentation (not from invoice date alone). If there are delays beyond that point, I encourage you to message me directly so we can review and resolve the issue.

To address the recent claims shared here:

  1. Loads Held Hostage
There have been isolated instances of carriers attempting to hold loads hostage, not due to non-payment, but to demand payment ahead of agreed terms. Any carrier engaging in unlawful conduct will be reported to the appropriate industry reporting platforms. We always prefer open communication and fair resolution, not unlawful behaviour.
  2. Layoffs
This claim is false. We have actually expanded our Global team in the past few months and continue to recruit for open roles.
  3. Terminal or Land for Sale
Incorrect. The referenced property belongs to another division within the broader C.A.T. group and is not for sale.
  4. Google Reviews
As with any online platform, negative reviews can be posted without verification. Our team reviews and responds to legitimate feedback and works directly with individuals to resolve factual concerns.

We remain committed to transparency and to supporting the carriers we work with. If you have a genuine concern or outstanding issue, please message me directly so we can assist. Unfortunately, the volume of misinformation here can make it difficult to identify and support those who truly need assistance, so direct communication remains the most effective way to resolve matters quickly and accurately.

Thank you.

When a carrier you are working with calls after a pickup and demands payment, I do hope you would post under that carrier's thread (on this site) calling them out. Especially if the quantity of funds has changed compared to your load confirmation. Brokers need to know if a carrier is doing those kinds of things. It's a real pain in the ass for everyone.

Keep well,
Mike

While I agree whole heartedly Mike, Id be willing to bet the loads held hostage are to secure payment on other aging invoices. I understand the practice is illegal.

So is defaulting on your contractual ogligations to carriers.

We don't like doing it but it gets the ball rolling on payment. It's also faster and cheaper than going to court.

Sorry if I came across anyway other than to suggest I understand, and appreciate why the carrier is doing it. I know its illegal, so is not paying your invoices... I meant to shed light on the fact there seems to be a necessity to have it done. It should be more a reflection on the delinquent payor.

I see CAT are posting lots of loads
have things changed regarding payments? are they finally getting back to paying carriers?

I reached out to their paymentstatus email on friday last week and they got back to me saying a payment is scheduled for this week. It's definitely a step up from what it's been the entire rest of year.
