you work for the cream of the crop right there. I see at least half I will not even call as buck a mile freight is a no go around here. Good luck there is a pile of winners on that list.

How is North Load Haulers as a carrier? They are asking us for work. Are they just double broker artists?

Like scores of other carriers, it would seem that some of these folks also broker freight whenever it suits them. As a result, the carriers who decide to take loads from them will often have to stand in a much longer line to get paid. Carriers have a lengthy list of payables to manage with, wages, insurance, fuel, maintenance, finance charges, to name just a few. These invoices will usually migrate to the top of the “to be paid list” much faster than some other carriers invoice . Not to say that every broker is a prompt payer…..many are not, however, a brokers list of payables is usually considerably less lengthy than a carriers and being closer to the top of the pile is more likely. It would be interesting to conduct a poll or survey to determine whose freight invoices get paid more promptly, an actual stand alone broker’s, or those belonging to a carrier who sells off their extra freight?

I'll bite first...
I'd say they're just about even.
Carriers who do not have a FMCSA broker authority but broker freight are 50/50. Some pay real well, (those who have some overflow that they cannot manage and just want to get it off their deck) and others pay horribly and you have to chase them.
FMCSA brokers are also 50/50 some pay in 75-80 days (supposedly because that is how their customer pays) and some are right on the 28-35 day mark.

As it has been said hundreds of times before on this website forums, it's about the business relationship that you have with the guy offering the freight. We limit the amount of 'new' guys and watch the account days. We follow up on all 'new' accounts and ensure we're not getting rooked.
