They did and it said light way logistics. We've explained it above, we cross checked it they said it's their company's logistics dept.
We do understand we were played and some mistakes were made on our end as well, we believed what they said and didn't get into more clarification for the name. But when you've a load booked, the shipper has sent the photos, truck is already there and the scamming company is confirming the name part, it is an honest mistake that can happen to get the load moving and delivered on time.
That's why we are trying to elaborate here, so that no one else gets roped into this.

Anyway, this is trucking industry and one learns new lessons everyday, there are all kinds of people in there. we only tried to explain so others can avoid making the same mistake we did and got roped into their scam.
 
Booked a load in August, delivered on time, triple brokered, now the delivering company wants to get paid. my company name was on the BOL, the delivering company didnt question the paperwork. How do you deal with this situation?
 
You got scammed. Going to be hard to collect from Maersk - I'd file with Baxter Bailey <david@bbcollects.com> and see if they can collect.
Get a hold of the shipper/receiver, I'm sure you aren't the only one calling them.

My opinion, unfortunately if you brokered the load and value the relationship with your customer you will have to pay the delivering carrier as well out of your pocket. We have had this happen, it is a terrible situation but it becomes a business decision at the end of the day.
 
Wouldn't the carrier carry partial fault for not seeing the BOL with the brokers name on it and question it? we called references before booking and they all checked out.

How is it a carriers job to police your clients? You deal with it by paying the carrier that did the load and hope like hell you can recoup from the guy that bent you over. Brokers want and get a stiffy when ABC calls with a cheap rate so their margins are high and then get all butt hurt when they find out they got screwed without a kiss. There is a way to stop this. STOP GIVING LOADS TO THE CHEAPEST UNKNOWN JUST FOR MARGIN. Use known carrier with great reputations it may cost a bit more but sleeping at night is a wonderful thing,,

Interesting take Rob, Blame the broker while the carrier doesn't do any due diligence, takes the loads, then blames everyone without doing there own research on the broker they took the load from. They were the only person available on that day and re-brokered to a US carrier, Nothing to do with UNKOWN MARGINS or CHEAPEST OPTION.

I am wondering now as well?? Not making sense at this point. Maersk (the phoney one) was only ever posting loads that I seen and he called here it was so obvious it was not the Maresk he fooled everyone into thinking he was. So you brokered to Maresk Johnny? and they rebrokered and the third guy is the one that wants paid? If so pay him you hired Maresk and got scammed not on the poor bastard that hauled although Maresk should of never passed anyone's smell test (yours giving him the load and 3rd guy for taking) he stunk to high heavens within 5 seconds of talking with them the one time I called.
