Cheap Freight of the day

we've been dealing with some clients advising we need to drop to $1,000 all in NB to ON..............with trees now done and wet summer (can't harvest the peat) = OUCH
Isn't it like 1400 km from NB to YYZ or something like that? wow less than buck a km.... wow and scary AF at the same time. Not that $1.50 a km would get it off the dock either.

I'm not surprised though, there was a time when ON-NB and back was a niche lane, even NS and NFLD. Used to be mostly the carriers based out of those areas, looking for freight heading back up. With all the new companies now registering in a PO BOX up there for the cheaper ins rates, and the new rule about having to have a certain amount of miles in those provinces, those lanes have gotten pretty saturated. Now everyone goes up there with an Amazon or Walmart load, looking for an "MT trailer for use" and pull anything to get back down so they can turn the truck back around again.

I thin.k cheap freight of the day is just normal now

rushville in to Chatham 500 us
muscatine ia to miss 1250 cdn

so many more of these offered this week, which seems particularly slow after a us holiday

1,50 to 160 per mile, carriers can’t get through this . Some haul to get cash flow others don’t know costs , but a brokers that offer this doesn’t know costs and it’s insulting that they offer . Either they want a bigger piece or have less to sell and try and maximize every load they sell

with all the regular costs .truck / trailer ‘/ labour /insurance . It makes no sense
Carrier getting 2 percent of pie ‘ brokers 3pl getting 5 to 10 percent

and most federal regulated carriers are paying 10 more sick days per employee per year another cost . Paying to hire customs members to process paperwork . for load brokers customers The costs never end , but the rates are a joke at best .

Agreed its getting insulting at this point, but have to remind ourselves its not personal, its just business. Quoting @Rob "Let the freight rot on the dock" and stick to your guns and your rates. Yes it sucks when you find out you got beat out by someone undercutting you by $50 bucks but that's just how the game is played in this market. There are fly by night carriers just as there are fly by night Brokers, this market will weed them out.

Its a real sign of the times when you see this on a "LOAD BOARD". Seeing more Truck parking and equipment for sale listings than loads, times are rough out there.

Very imbalanced lane.. Going the other way rates more than compensate, even now. I did a Toronto to Moncton last week... paid the carrier $3800.00 on 1015 miles.
