Just had one of my customers call to advise that Longview Logistics in Winnipeg called them looking to haul direct for them. Thought you all would like to know.

Hmmm... They just finished a load for us.
We are lucky that most of our clients are extremely faithful and have great communication with us so I would know pretty quick if they did.
Nonetheless, I guess I will have to send them an email reminding them of the obligation they signed regarding clients, call my client, the shipper and the receiver, and then wait for the fall out
Sigh!!!

Happens all the time.. its just that we only find out about it once in a blue moon. It's really up to the shipper.. if they value your services then they don't get in. If on the hand they don't value your services as much then they'll take the carrier up on their offer. I've even had a customer call me up and ask ".. well.. what should I do?". My answer to him was you let him cherry pick the easy lane he wants.. but better ask him about the bitch lane that he won't want to do.. because its a package deal.

Depending on how far up the management ladder the "back solicitor" wants to go, it can have a damaging impact on your relationship with your customer. Yes, you get along great with the transportation manager who realizes that you are providing a valuable service at a fair cost. However, the numbers driven CFO or CEO aren't really all that interested in how you pull their "asses out of the fire" on a regular basis for no additional charge. Especially if it is a publicly traded company. Shareholders tend to frown upon management that doesn't take immediate advantage of apparent cost savings. Fortunately in most cases, the back solicitor is not professional enough to take his proposals to upper management. Increasing your sales by stealing business from someone else is a pretty good definition of unprofessional behavior.

Ain't that the truth..which is why we both love and hate our biggie customers. The volumes are great but the faces around the table change and.. boom..after five or ten years its back to "who are you and what are you good for?". This is why I also appreciate my smaller customers.. its personal.. and a good deed or pulling one out of the fire is more apt to be remembered..

Well said. God Bless the smaller guys. Our worst payer, out of an active customer list of approx 150, is one of the worlds largest retail food/confections companies. We are forever chasing them.

I see they post loads and posting looking for loads
not sure how that is happening

Well, it has happen and you did warn us.
I have had 2 clients report back-soliciting from Longview Logistics and they had the audacity to call me this morning looking to book another one of our loads.
This is the email they send our clients:

"My name is Brian Donnelly of Longview Logistics in Canada.

I do run bales and am very familiar with commodity.
We are located in Winnipeg and would very much be interested in working with your shipments either cross border or Intra Canada in a service capacity.

We have over 45 trucks and 85 trailers all on the new side or relatively new condition ( dry vans ) We have drop yards in Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto .

I am very familiar with Canada Custom Paperwork

Please allow me to quote anything you may have that would be helpful to your company .

My plan is to give you only asset costing as opposed to brokered costing . We are based in Winnipeg and can be ready at a moments notice. ( truck no shows, or breakdowns or quick turn arounds )

Our insurance is up to date and our safety status is Satisfactory .
rian Donnelly of Longview Logistics in Canada."

We are lucky that we have an extremely loyal client base.
Thank you everyone for the warning and keep up the good work.

They are not closed, they recently had a scandal (for lack of better words) which involved a driver having to sleep outside his truck due to them not getting him a hotel, they have been bombarded with negative reviews since then

Rumour going round that their drivers were stranded all over the US this week. No money to bring them home. Would be a big player in Winnipeg if they are going down.

Its like everyone else Stuck,,,,very low amount of freight moving
tons of little LTL but not much in regards to FTL
