The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) is threatening strike action to which CBSA employees make up part of PSAC membership. There is very little information available to identify what may happen at the borders if PSAC goes on strike but no doubt that any work action by PSAC will create headaches at the commercial crossings at border.

We are sharing this information with our customers as any delays at the border will result in a domino effect for our whole operation including those shipments that may not have a component relating to the Canadian border.

The government has said this shouldn't impact people crossing.. But they say a lot of things..

Time to implement the emergencies act so the actions of a few - a fringe minority with unacceptable views (in this case PSAC) do not impact international trade again. We certainly have clear precedent that that our government cannot allow that to happen. The interesting thing will be to see whether the same standard is applied to everyone, or whether a double standard exists.

Umhhhh…..really? Comparing a recognized national workers union, exercising their legal rights of negotiation, to a disorganized group of misguided and gullible rabble rousers is a bit of a stretch isn’t it? Legal workers strikes are hardly the same as an attempted violent insurrection.

Violent Insurrection???? Where did that happen in Ottawa behind the bbq or was it the bouncy castle? The bridge was cleared out BEFORE he signed the act so could not of been there. Just wondering what Liberal media had you hookwinked into believing their BS. I watched it for hours and never seen any violence other than the cops running over folks on horses but that didn't happen according to the Liberals but I saw it live online as it did happen. Your bright red is showing through as usual. Cannot believe anyone still has any faith in that guy.

As I have said many times before….I do not vote Liberal. I am pretty much ambivalent towards our PM with no great feelings about him, one way or another. Just because I don’t hate him doesn’t mean I am a fan or support him. However, neither I nor thebluffs1 made any comment about the PM. The point of my posting was simply to question the logic of a comparison he made regarding the hypothetical implementation of the Emergency Measures Act over the possible actions of a union exercising their right to collective bargaining. They are two completely different situations. The Emergency Measures Act is not intended and was never designed to be used to settle a legal strike between a union and its employer.
