Uber and Transplace.....

I find these two quotes amusing

“optimize the movement of freight across the entire marketplace and deliver best-in-class services to shippers, while also unlocking opportunities for carriers.”

Uber Freight’s brokerage will operate independently from Transplace’s managed transportation services after the acquisition, the companies say.

I know, eh, @Shakey, my point exactly...

Uber is bleeding cash and has already given up on their automated cars.

I guess they want to shift their focus on to freight to drive revenue to their Uber freight app.

Long term Uber has lots of cash flow problems. Betting on freight to fix that is a very bad bet in my opinion.

I think transplace and Uber are the same now, we used to do a lot with transplace but ever since they became UBER the payments are taking longer so we dont book with them as much. Does anyone else experience this as well?

To add this, we still book with them the old way through email and phone if we absolutely need to. Haven't used their app yet.

It's like XPO all over again but on a larger scale. XPO was originally supposed to be a freight brokerage rivaling the size of C H Robinson ... but in the end they kept adding more and more asset based solutions until they became that in the majority.

Uber was supposed to take spot freight by storm but the plays like this that they are taking are leaning more towards an integrated solution. Not a bad thing necessarily unless it comes down like a house of cards - Uber still isn't profitable from what I know.

Stopped at their booth at Truck World in Mississauga. This looked more appropriate for independent truckers that want to operate like Skip the Dishes contractors. Not a good fit for larger carriers.

We do a bunch of business with Transplace on their 4pl side and so far, nothing has really changed on that side. Have some pretty close contacts there and outside of changing emails to Uber, they haven't been directly affected yet.

Everyone thinks that will change over time as Uber drives to make more profit.

They've been driving for a long time trying to make a cent. EPS -3.34$ isnt cutting it for me. Once they buy enough profitable company maybe they can spread the losses from Uber and start making money. Great product but seems rather difficult to cut out a profit from it.
