We had given our loaded trailer to a carrier to deliver our load into PA and then they were to reload with their own load and we would pick it up from them in the GTA.

They delivered the load and brought it to the GTA but the trailer has since gone from the GTA to Montreal and now it's in Edmonton, they are constantly lying to us and are not answering emails.

What recourse do we have? Should we report the trailer stolen to the police?

So we do trailer exchange also - but usually the terms are 10 - 15 days as there is no guarantee that the reload will be back to XYZ city. so we would complete our trip / tiangle and return the trailer.
Maybe they assumed that... just giving them the benifit of the doubt

My collogue has email confirmation that the trailer would be returned to us today... it's in Edmonton.

Always have an agreement in place, when you let another carrier use your trailer without an agreement that outlines the recourse if they use the trailer beyond a reasonable time, you are only asking for them to run around with your trailer.

We have confirmation on email that they were to return it this past Monday.

Trailer is still parked in Edmonton.

Tough situation; even worse if they load animal hides in AB. Might as well charge a daily rental fee.
If they have done freight for you; start with deductions on the invoice until that runs out and then keep going.

What battery ones are you using?
Mine don't fail. They do have a life expectancy of course, but they don't fail.
had a bad experience with omnitracs. Had to keep swapping the units out because of a manufacturing issue, which was something to do with the internal battery.
