So WSIB shows up with an injured driver for return to work and here is the conversation:
Me:When can he come back
WSIB: 8 weeks
Me: So why are you here
WSIB: Well you need to know the restrictions
Me: Tell me in 8 weeks when he is ready to return

A little background they have already been in once and told we only have driving positions and not other work so just a complete boondoggle as the driver drove an hour to get here and god know's how far the WSIB rep drove but it's a nice sunny Friday for a waste of time. The conversation was not as nice as it seemed they really get my blood boiling for the waste of money and raising our rates to the ridiculous. She just stormed out of here now I feel better.

Like everything else in this industry, when the government gets involved it just gets f**ked up. I'm glad you made her storm out - that makes me smile!!! :D:D:D

We had the same issue with WSIB.

The driver came in with a doctors note stating "Employee cannot return to work. Further information will follow after appointment on <date 6 weeks from now>". The driver had surgery on his hand.

The WSIB rep came in 3 weeks later asking for alternative work to which we said that the employee is a driver and the nature of the injury restricts him from driving. We do not have any other work nor can we make an effective position that will last 3 weeks. Also the doctors note specifically says "CANNOT RETURN TO WORK". Who am I to question the doctors restrictions?

She wrote it down in her book, gave me a card and asked to contact her if something came up. I told her that if she can find suitable employment for my driver that fits his abilities she is more than welcome to approach my employee and make an offer. Her reply was "That's not what we do".

I don't understand why she expects me to find suitable work for the employee but she won't.

You're right...a complete waste of time. No wonder rates are so high!
