Is a carrier name a dead giveaway that they're going to be a scammer? It seems like people don't take their time to think about the name of their company in a market, especially carriers that use soundalike names. Or think about how the sales rep will sound: "Hi, I'm from Eagle-X King Group System" or "Hi, I'm from Drop and Run".

Some clues: names that include
King
Eagle
Group
Runner
Road
X (as in something-X)
World
Load
Speed
Best

What is the worst carrier name ever that you didn't like and your intuition was right? Drop and Run is one lol.

Gee where did you ever get a copy of the 905 wheel of names list... No idea why but some in the industry sure do love the X half the 905 is something X. They may do it as it is easier to see the Big X out in the bush up on 11 with a driver with the curtains 3/4 closed a movie going and feet up on the dash. How these guys get away with driving like that is beyond me. Want to run on cruise sure i get it do it all the time but having your feet up on the dash should be an automatic careless charge as you do not have control of that vehicle with your feet that far from the peddles in an emergency, The curtains 1/2-3/4 closed on the side windows is another one..

Best King Speed Roadrunner World Group.

We have trucks everywhere!

I think people try to rip off the Trans-X name a bit.
And driving a big rig with sandals probably.

I would like to add the words "Gold/Golden" to the above list but all of them get my spidey senses tingling. A couple of my favorites/worst names from back in the day are : Naked Dog Express(not sure how they came up with that) and B.R.E.S.T(I think it stood for "best reliable ever service transport") but we always thought those guys just liked saying brest when they answered the phone...lol

Speaking of names. There was a young woman in the shipping department at a customer of ours who worked in scheduling. We would let her know the name of the various carriers we were sending in. She had a real hard time pronouncing Koch Transport. In fact I think some of the guys in our dispatch office encouraged her to pronounce it incorrectly!

I was at the dock in VCR (head to toe in PPE) doing a site survey of pipe with the Ops manager. Dude jumps out of his truck (the dash "decorations" are an entirely different thread LOL) and starts walking over in flip flops. Ops Mgr goes literal bananas on the guy. He looked like a cartoon character running back to his truck. Turned out he had no PPE - despite the giant sign at the gate.

The gal who signed out PPE to those who showed up without it refused to play along until he partook in one of the finer lower mainland shower facilities. Dude wasn't having a good day.

The biggest red flag is actually Express or Haulage - used by companies to misrepresent themselves.

The thing with some of these keywords like Eagle, Tiger actually have cultural significance. Doesn't mean good or bad but sometimes gives you a good idea of who they are.
