Hello peeps,

Just learned today some really bad news, my company is cutting down to spare some money... So long story short, they are cutting my position :( That's the sad part...

Now comes the time, where I have to think what to do with the rest of my carreer...

I am a fully trained semi driver with some US experience. I have over a year of expirience is dispatching, not general freight, but has private carrier for the Rock n' Roll industry (which for most people is really crappy...). I know that private is way different that general, but are some company going to be willing to give me a shot has a dispatcher (which I like a lot), or do I have to resort to return to the open road (I do like it also, but I did my time).

I a a fast learner, speak french-english, can work under pressure, an appetite for knowledge.

What are my options... (if you wish to tell me to call which ever company, I am situated in the Montreal, Qc area)

Cheers

Just my opinion here, not advice...
Good dispatchers are HARD to find. If you are good, I would seek out a company that is close to what you want to do, and go see the guy. Explain that driving isn't your thing, but you are willing to do it to "pay your dues" and so they get to know how you think.
Trick is to find a company large enough that they will need someone, and small enough that management notices you...and you aren't just another numbered driver.
Good luck.

Thanks for your opinion, that is really appreciated Dave. Of course, I know that I will need to restart and prove what I can do to help a company...

I am a believer and I am sure that I will find somebody that is going to give me that chance...

If I kneeled down every time someone said I could not do it, I would not have gotten myself to where I am today.
Of course it's a set back, but with hard work comes great accomplishment... :)

Sorry for the miss spelling if any, I am writing from my smart phone I can't find them all :)

Cheers

To the people that sent me a pm, it's really appreciated. As I do not have enough posts, I can't reply personally.:(
But I will say that I will return to your messages in a few days, has I still have some stuff to work on.

Cheers

Options

When bad things happen ... doors open and opportunity will follow.

Remember the three c's in life - crib - cubicle - casket, we must be happy in what we do for a living.

This is an opportunity for you to choose where and whom you wish to work.

All good dispatchers have had the experience of driving a truck and know what it's like on the road. Diversified experience in the industry is a valuable asset.

Go and talk to the companies close to you where you would like to work.

Good Luck !
