Dale Sommers, Truckin Bozo, passed this morning. Any dyed in the wool high miler would recognize the name from miles and miles of miles and miles of late night driving.

Dale was an on-air advocate for the trucking industry. He had a lifetime achievement award from OOIDA. His on-air shows kept many drivers up to date on regulations, road problems and health issues.

It was thru his radio show the D.C. sniper was caught when a listener, hearing the broadcast with a vehicle description, recognized the car in a rest area. He blocked the exit and notified law enforcement.

Wow. I used to listen to him as a kid in the '70s on the AM station out of Cincinnati on the overnights. WLW. That was until the hog reports came on at 5 AM.
At night around here you could get it and WWL out of New Orleans if the weather was right.
