Truck Hacking

Bluetooth hacking (which by the way all your EOBR's have) is a growing way to get into systems. It's very unsecure and doesn't take a PC genius to do. Do a bit of Youtubing and you'll see.

With all the recent terrorist attacks I would not be surprised if this was the next wave of incidents to start happening.. A nearby hacker takes over your truck while you're rolling down the highway and veers it off into some poor bystanders. Very difficult to track down the responsible party after the incident.

Scary stuff!

Yes as per the article it is possible to hack any cars or trucks on the market, but also it states:
First, the researchers performed their tests by plugging a laptop directly into an OBD port on the dashboard of the target trucks, rather than search for a wireless entrypoint into the vehicle that an actual malicious hacker would likely need to access its network.

So not only does someone need to understand hacking, they need to have an understanding of coding used for the specific on board computers for that car or truck. It took also 2 months for an entire class of University of Michigan to encode the ability to do this once and they also had unlimited access to the dashboard of the truck. I mean if you have the capability of doing this, you are more well off to use your resources to hack agencies or banks.

If you look at the best hackers in the world now, they are from Russia. The Sony hack, the hack on the U.S. democratic party were done by them. Those are meant to disturb huge organizations with capital and political support.

It also stated that it was a 2006 truck and OH NO they disabled the engine brake how are we ever going to stop? Pretty sensational article it probably doesn't deserve this much conversation about it.

Yeah, but what if they got real serious and turned off the heated mirrors or even worse the stereo...

Terrorists aren't that smart. C'mon ... they think strapping 50 lbs of plastic explosives to their nuts is high tech.
