Does anyone have any service related experiences with;
Triangle Logistics Solutions
8500 Leslie St.
Thornhill, Ont.
According to Safer, they claim to have a few trucks and drivers, but their website looks more like a full service brokerage. CVOR and insurance provided looks OK. As we all can attest, you have to be vigilant these days when dealing with a new supplier, so any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies. After posting my initial query, I did a search on this site and discovered some troubling comments regarding double brokering etc.. Perhaps they have become more established and can now handle the freight themselves instead of selling it off? Again, thanks for the responses.

They use us as a carrier for LTL or TL Ontario to Ontario. We've never had any issues with paperwork, loading etc.... Seems on the up and up from the exposure we have. We'll continue to provide them will excellent service for their Ontario to Ontario requirements.

Their office is on the same floor (3rd) as the administration office of the Richmond Hill Small Claims Court, so if you ever have to sue them for unpaid invoices, it would be the shortest walk ever to serve them.
I doubt that they have any vehicles, and would consider them as principally a broker based on their location (office tower at Hwy 7 and Leslie)

I did 2 shipments for them in 2010. Since that time they called almost on a daily basis looking for rates on everything under the sun. It got to the point where I told them no freight in years no more rates. Have not heard from them in a couple months.

As a "broker only" operation, meaning I have no trucks, I can't help but be nervous when an entity such as Triangle asks to move my freight. OK, maybe they do have a few, or a couple, of their own units (probably owner-operators), but if they take my freight and then can't put it on their own vehicle, quess what...... it gets auctioned off to someone whom I'll have no control over. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, they would probably expect to haul it themselves, but who knows??? Call me old fashioned, but sell yourself either as a broker, or as a carrier. It is just too confusing, and from my perspective, just too risky to be both. No wonder I drive my staff crazy checking PARS stickers on every customs doc to see if they match with the carrier we contracted with but hey, better safe than sorry.

Hi Loaders,
Hey thanks! For the in-put on Inside Transport.Com Great to read!!

As much as you drive your staff crazy checking PARS (And or PAPS)...Word of advise....That sticker means S cock doled e doled. We've given loads to Carriers - They send in there cousins, girlfriends, grandmothers. The actual carrier could process the CIV Via Electronically using there "Sticker" And hello Jack, your load crosses the border with unknown get's delivered see you later. Unless your shipper or you see the truck and name on it. You would never know who ran your load. Your freight is (or could be) Doubled Broker or as they call it in QC Co-brokered.
Thanks,
Have a great day!!

Interesting perspective.

Not to put words in Loaders mouth but when I say I'm 'checking paperwork' it's for several things (simpler to say checking paperwork or checking PARS):

Pars/Paps (although as demonstrated inconclusive)
'blank spots' that have been altered before my faxed/scanned copy was sent to me
weird edges of the boxes or form template
major differenced from other paperwork from same customer or shipper
headers from fax machines I would not expect to find on this paperwork
inconsistent writing/fonts

TIP OF THE DAY:
ALWAYS call Interport Border Services in Mississauga (if crossing Fort Erie) to verify the invoice provided by your carrier to you has not been doctored. I'm in the middle of dealing with a carrier that may be trying to bill each LTL client on this TL the same $355 by fraudulently forging the Consignee/Destination information and sending to all of his customers. The writing is close, the width of the pen strokes is slightly thinner...
New thread coming.

Keep well,
Mike

Thanks Pharlap, and yes, you're absolutely right. It seems that we're always 1 step behind those that wish to bend the rules to their advantage. The vast majority of our loads go smoothly and are loaded on the carriers to whom we gave the load to. In cases where the original carrier gave the load to his "cousin, friend or grandmother" without our prior knowledge, the load was picked-up and delivered without incident. Still, it is worthwhile to be vigilant and monitor who is hauling your freight using any and every means possible. Thanks for the kind words and enjoy what should be a quiet next day or so.
