Not looking good for our 5 skids they picked up. Address is a UPS Store and when I called they said they had several calls regarding them... Just a heads up to everyone. I know that they are posting on the Link.

Thanks

we had the same issue yesterday.

no show, no call, not answering the phone. never calling back.

we ended up re-booking it with another provider.

We caught them double brokering our load! We cancelled on them and they are now on our DNU list!

Was just speaking with a colleague, they just got caught with them as well.
They called their insurance company, and not only their papers were falsified but their were the 4th ones today to call about a problem.

Other comapnies that got caught as well were loosing full loads of liquor.

You know what I find amazing....

Brokers (and shippers) that are willing to give loads or liquor, Playstations, gold bars, etc... to whomever shows up asking for it with the lowest rate...

What ever happened to building long term relationships with good quality carriers who you know isn't going to disappear with your customers merchandise.

Yes, sometimes we need to 'cover a load' and there is no one else in the area, we all try out new providers from time to time, but when you do it's critical for the shipper and consignee to actually check the side of the tractor to ensure the company picking up is that which was contracted.

I'll try and end this short rant with the following: I've met personally the owners (or at least management) of our favorite carriers (and those that I have yet to meet I will by the end of this year). I want to see who we're giving our customers livelihood to, shake their hand and thank them for their hard work. Call me old school, it's ok, I've got some grey hair to boot.

Perhaps I'm overreacting, I jut have a hard time feeling bad for people that lose high value loads to criminals. A high value shipment needs to be handled by a high caliber (and reputable) carrier - yes, they cost a little more but so does the freight invoice on a high value shipment.

Happy Friday!!

Mike

Mike I fully understand what you're saying, but how else are you going to find new providers?

Everyone deserves a fair chance once they pass the vetting process.

It's like a funnel, a lot of older carriers ending going out of business so we need to diversify and find new providers as we along so we can broaden our horizons!

Being old school is good, but a little new school helps as well.

Ask for access to the carrier's real-time GPS mapping system. It should be web-based if its up-to-date.

You will see the truck pull up to your dock in real-time, and pull away. You can also set geo-fence alerts, to keep you in the loop as it travels and reaches its destination.

It only takes a minute to properly manage risk. A modern, honest, organized, and transparent carrier with a team that believes in customer service will have no problem providing this.

not everyone has this type of technology, and when they do they never want to tell you about it.

Ah-ha! So that's how the hijackers know where the high value loads are at anytime of the night or day.

Sure they do, they will tell you all about it to justify their price (you are getting value in that they have this technology and can more accurately track your load of 'gold bars').

It's a win-win, except I do find seldom that we are given 'direct portal access'. We are advised to contact their tracing people...

Do they have the technology in the first place? Possibly, possibly not...

Do carriers really want customers to know where their trucks are 'at all times'? I think not. I'd go into the list of reasons but I've got a hectic day here...

Gotta run, keep well.

Mike

You've watched too much CSI Miami.

Even if a hijacker had the hacking skills to find the site, break the passwords and the encryption, they wouldn't find the account or make sense of the thousands of gigabytes of data.

There is a far, far greater likelihood that the hijackers are stalking your business, or are inside your business.

I used to work with a system that only gave the customer web access as long as the load was ongoing. Access would finish as soon as the driver punched in the 'delivered' macro. The customers did like it.
