These tires were tried out by several owner operators we had working with us previously, although only in a drive tire application.
We knew of no one who had the guts to try them on the steers.
The results were not favorable, although none blew out. The mileage achieved from the virgin tires was comparable to what drivers were getting from a set of recaps.
For our trailers, 53ft dry vans. We no longer buy American brands , only Chinese. At around $230.00 cdn for a virgin tire.
We also re cap our drives from our tractors and use them on our trailers.
We switched to Hankook for our drives about 4 years ago and had great results. Although, they got hard to find around Montreal in the drive pattern we liked. There is a more aggressive drive pattern available but we find them noisy. We have not bought them again.
We have switched to BF Goderich in the last year and so far so good. We have been using them as steers for the last 4/5 years.
We have tried several brands over the last 10 years and got 400,000km of the set of original Good Year's drives on one of our Columbia's 75,000 km more than the Michelin's another unit came with. Both trucks did the same work.
Hence Michelin's have been of my buying list.
We would not buy Chines drives for our tractors, we will stay with the 2nd line American brands and Korean tires.
