It is time for some salary reviews at our place for our customer service/dispatch/the ones who make it happen every day, call them what you will, employees. I would be very interested in hearing what the market is currently paying for this type of position. The employees are relatively fresh, less than 5 years service. We are a mid sized brokerage firm with 6 employees, plus myself and my wife. They perform their duties well, work with minimal supervision and in our brokerage, they can pick the carrier and also set the rate (within pre-established parameters) for each load they handle. I have always been a believer in the old adage, you get what you pay for, and as a result we do pay what I think are above average salaries. Any insights from my esteemed colleagues would be appreciated. TIA.

I could write a short story on this topic. The below is from a brokerage prospective.

I've seen experienced, 10+ year dispatchers, get offers of over 100k from the bigger brokerages over the past few years. They were basically paying for the niche carriers that these guys might know. The experience in negotiation, etc.

The problem is, right now, all that stuff really doesn't matter.

You post a load up, on a semi-desirable lane, you'll get multiple options and someone will take it for your target, if its reasonable. The difference right now between a great dispatcher and a good one is very small right now.

The gap grows a bit if you have US Domestic freight as that is the wild west and you need experience to handle the double brokers and weird lanes.

60 -70k with experience seems to be the norm right now
50 - 55k pure green with no experience

Thank you to those who responded. You have confirmed by thoughts. We are presently right in line with those numbers, especially on the high side. I believe that a modest cost of living increase will be the result of this review.
