I am really frustrated with The Logistics Institute. http://www.loginstitute.ca/contact.html

Apparently this is a professional institute to which people belong to and they allow these professionals to carry the P.Log post-nominal acronym behind their name.

We recently had an issue with a freight broker who belonged to this institute and does not answer the phone nor return messages. I eventually brought this up to the Logistics Institute but it too falls on deaf ears. It appears they only are worried about getting their money.

I get real frustrated in situations such as this where the professional institute chooses to nothing.

Jim L, I can appreciate your frustration. I suppose that the Logistics Institute doesn't view non-payment of legitimate invoices, as a breach of their own Code of Ethics. I had a somewhat similar situation with a non-paying client, who was recognized by the local Chamber of Commerce as an Industry Leader in the community! Although it might probably be fruitless, perhaps a letter to the Logistics Institute describing your experiences with one of their members might be in order. You could at least take some satisfaction in knowing you have reported unethical behaviour.

I originally got a response from the Logistics Institute when I first called. They said that they would reach out to the member and get back to me. At this time I have heard nothing. Requests for follow up have fallen on deaf ears it seems. The freight broker, Frontier Forwarding Inc, still has the affiliation posted on the website.

I do believe that if the professional affiliation has no recourse on its members for unethical behavior they should create one. It would go a long way to creating value in their association.

First, let me say that I am not a member of the Logistics Institute. That being said, it is my understanding that the LI accredits individuals, not companies. Corporate memberships appear on their website, but Frontier is not shown.
A manager with the initials RR is a P.Log member. The managing director/majority owner is not a P.Log member.
Even though I have known RR for over 20 years, I still had to sue them in SCC to get paid (they never defended), got default judgment and successfully garnisheed their bank account (including 26.82% annual interest)
