If you had used Synergy for up to a year prior to their shutting down, there is a strong possibility that your Ontario based client has received or will receive a demand letter from Richard T Avis, Attorney at Law, in Chicago, seeking payment on unpaid distribution and interline charges unpaid by Synergy to The Custom Companies, Northlake IL.

Yes I received letter about 6 month ago for charges I did not owe. I contacted lawyer by email and told them I would not be paying anything.

I (the broker) didnt receive a notice, but the shipper in the U.S. got a notification to pay the Customs Companies.
I told them not to pay it.

My customer's supplier received one of these letters. Philip Shipkin at the collection agency could not verify where the $2085.00 charges for 2 skids from Chicago to Toronto came from, just that The Custom Company had a legal right to charge it. He offered me a 50% discount if I paid within 7 days from yesterday. Threatened that it would be much more expensive if we decided to go to court.
