Someone please tell me how a shipper is allowed a Loadlink account?
I know of at least 2 local manufacturers that are posting loads on the link with their own accounts. Seems like a conflict of interest to me. As someone put it the other day 'Link don't care, they just want that monthly payment'.

I must remain anonymous or the grey suits of the Link will be at my door.

If "carriers" who don't have a single freakin truck can get a carrier loadlink account, why not?

I know a lot of shippers with loadlink accounts...usually as a carrier I don't really want their business as they give really cheap rates!

As a Carrier if it takes a finger out of the pie then why not? I understand Brokers being mad but this is Capitalism and remember most Manufacturers screw it up and will come running back to you.

mad dog,

As per your post the other day - shippers are not allowed to have accounts on Link unless they have trucks. If they have their own "in house" trucks or transport - then yes...they can utilize a Link account - and it would make sense for them to do so. Shippers with transport capabilities or their own "fleet" - no matter the size - is quite common....

This should clear up your initial inquiry....

I know of two LINK accounts that are listed as brokers and they are actually manufacturers. They have no CVOR , no MC and no insurance.

I find that very hard to believe that an account can be opened with Link with no transport credentials. I think you are missing some information....

I assume you have reported this "manufacturer" to Link? What was their response to it? We would all like to hear that response....

I think I must be missing something. It's a bad thing that a manufacturer has a link account?

I don't really see the differance between a real shipper wanting to post his own freight rather than pay a 3PL to do it for him. Obviously the load broker community is going to have a major problem with it. Carriers may support the idea. The way I see it, if there is a demand from the shipping community to have such a web site, sooner or later either Link or someone else will provide it for them. What surprises me is that it has not happened already. In any business if there is a way to eliminate the middle man...it will happen eventually.

The question is will it work and survive? Who knows........
