Some "Intelligent" individual sent a mass email apparently to everyone they have ever done business with and they put all the recipients email addresses in the "CC" box...

Then some of the recipients responded ( by clicking "Reply-to-all ) to say they don't want these emails...

Which caused several more recipients to respond ( again by clicking "Reply-to-all" ) to tell other recipients not to use the "Reply-to-all" feature when responding...

The result has been a cascading flood of emails from everybody and their mother telling each other not to Reply-to-all, while using the "Reply-to-all" button...

Although some of the responses are quite hilarious, especially the guy who posted the "Why you no CC" picture, it is getting to be a bit much... We are up to about 40 emails...

Not sure, but it seems that the chain started with a person named Richard Leger from St Lambert... I could be wrong, but that's the first email I received in this chain... Seems like he was sending an email to a person named "Baldish", but decided to cc possibly hundreds of people...

Can anybody corroborate that this Richard is the "Genius" who sent the original email?

I have something I would like to send him... haahaa...

LOL (sort of)

We've seen that a few times. While it's embarrassing for the original sender, the number of people that take the time to tell people they've screwed up should stop at 1. 40 emails cluttering your inbox means there is potential for you to delay reaction to a 'real' email that needs your attention.

More food for thought: Why is it that 25%+ of emails are marked urgent, even if they aren't urgent? Maybe I'll write up an email entitled Email Etiquette For Dummies. I'd of course have to be selective as to who I sent it to though, if I sent to someone found to know the content it would be hypocritical of me.

Happy Friday, keep well J-C

lol it's a part of using e-mails. I have friends in banking that tell me this happens as well.

CEO's and VPs of one of the big banks have made this mistake as well.

Jonny-chicken, Not all of us are tech inclined. I went to school with Richard. We had typing classes. That't how old we are  Not all of us have formal training on Computers. My ex husband is an IT expert. My children are therefore, very knowledgeable. I on the other hand, worked for many years where there was no access or need for computers. I was quite happy to not learn  but, then in the blink of an eye... it's everywhere. I am self taught which should say a lot since I was never inclined to learn to begin with. Fortunately for me I work for someone that makes me seem like the IT specialist :D My kids always get a good laugh when I tell people that I am the IT specialist at work. I didn't even know what cci meant until about 4 years ago. We are in transition here people... some of us are doing our very best to keep up but... so make sure you are laughing WITH US. and we can all have a good time learning this new fangled stuff ;)
